Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Pre-game show Vick interviewing Hurts. Jalen told him he modeled his game after him and loved that he would take the ball in his hands to make plays, something like that. Hurts doesn't see the field and go through reads.

Vick also had elite level speed and quickness to go with his cannon of an arm.

They are similar in their ability to read the field, going through progressions, and leaving the pocket early.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

He's a poor man's Lamar and Lamar Is 1-3 in the playoffs

This debate should be settled now.  There is little long term upside to staying on this path.

That makes him Tyrod Taylor

Theres nothing out there next season for qb unless the spend a kings ransom on rogers or wilson.

Definitely don't want to reach in the draft.

Yes, just cause he runs a lot does not make him even Lamar Jackson. Jackson isn't a great passer but, he is light years ahead of Hurts. Taylor is a little bit closer though.

He isn't comparable to anyone. Every QB that could run like Hurts at least had a great arm which helps in some ways make up for the accuracy issues especially down field.

Agree.  Every other QB we throw out in discussion has a higher percentage of QB to RB in them.  He's a great runner with meh quarterback skills. On top of that, he's only shown incremental improvement in areas of concern, since he started college.  Enough with the experiment!

Oh I forgot he is the next Josh Allen!! The worst comparison of all lol.

Oh, WOW!  Hadn't seen that one.  What a ridiculousn comparison.

Tyrod Taylor was always his ceiling to me and that's not inspiring at all.

That's cause Allen had a sheety throwing percentage coming out of college and his first 2 yrs... So obviously everyone is capable

I never thought Allen would become polished enough to reach the level he has but the appeal with Allen always was that he had all the raw tools to work with (Size, cannon of an arm) so offered that upside if he could ever improve his accuracy. Hurts doesn't have the same raw tools

Agreed, I'm glad Allen put it together. He is probably my favorite QB in the league right now.

Herbert for me....loved him at Oregon as well.

But I am sure I will shortly be told how useless he is given he has had 2 years without playoffs, and as we all know wins and losses are purely down to the QB

Shhh don't be talking like that around here! Lol. I'm against Oregon because of chip and I was there over the summer and it was probably the worst state I was in lol.

He does seem like he will be great for a long time though.

He may improve somewhat, but in pressure situations we've seen he is not making reads or good decisions. He's never going to be a great passing QB.

He can be a stop gap until the right QB is found. Don't reach or waste draft picks in a trade.

I like trading one of the picks back to get another in 2023. Then use those to trade up to get your guy.

Hurts was bad today; there's no way around that. But he's way too young to give up on and should get another year as the starter to prove himself.

Lurie wants an explosive offense that can pass. He's not gonna be happy with a team that can run well but not make the big pass plays. Lurie is going to be too tempted to get a better passer.

He'll be watching playoff QBs making big plays and have a bad taste in his mouth.

Wow.   Reid Sinnett gets so little respect.

What the hell is a sinnett?  Lol. He must be another throwing running back

They should have given up on him before the draft in April 2020.

He has been bad all season against good teams. The guy can't throw, can't read a defense, can't see open WR....he can't QB in the NFL.

I get what someone is trying to do with the comparison, but Josh Allen had all of the NFL level tools and measurables from Day 1.  He really just needed higher level coaching and development to get it right.  The other guy...well, he really didn't have any of that coming out and was coached up by two premium coaching staffs.  I still contend the Eagles never intended for him to get so many snaps.

He definitely saw what being one dimensional (to the run side) got him yesterday and that beating was at the hands of a team with injury issues.  I still think they never intended for Hurts to ever take a season full of snaps for the team.  He wasn't drafted to start.  The Eagles are looking.

He panics when there's pressure. For all this talk about how calm and cool he is, the guy loves to run from a pocket the second his first read isn't open. He then follows it up with stupid decisions.

I agree with this 1000%. I think them saying he was drafted to be a gadget player was true and also be a quality back up to you know who. That fell apart and they didn't have a choice, since Hurts was a 2nd round pick they might as well see if they have something there as a starter.

I'm also really starting to think they did want Siri to see what they had as a passer in hurts in the first half of the season. When that went to sheet, they told Siri to run the offense the way he was hired for and to the teams strength in the second half.
