I don’t think it’s very intelligent asset management to draft an OT that high when you have those three guys on the roster.

I think if Sewell is there it's probably unintelligent not to draft him.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

If there’s a slam dunk player who’s easily the BPA, you either pick him or trade back, yes. But all things equal, I don’t think that’s a position they should be specifically prioritizing that high in the draft, atm.

And that's fine but... if Sewell is there then we probably have to take him.

That was a very pro-Hurts post lol. But there's a very low likelihood of Hurts playing as well as 2017 Wentz any time soon. And my point was that he doesn't need to in order to be the preferred option right now.

If you don't want to watch the sheet show we've seen thus far in 2020 giving another QB a chance is your only option.

I guess you're gonna call this very negative Wentz post.

I mean, I guess so. It just feels like you’re throwing away the potential of Mailata and Dillard becoming long term assets, when we desperately need long term assets. I say that because I think you’d be selling low on both guys right now. Mailata still hasn’t played enough games, but is growing at an exceptional rate. While obviously Dillard’s value is depressed, atm.

Lol what are you talking about, man? Read better, sheesh. Hurts is the better option.

We don't know what potential Dillard has so that is a gamble. And Mailata... I mean if he goes on to be a decent starter in the NFL? That's an incredible story. But decent LT? I don't think that's enough bud. Sewell is almost seen as a can't miss talent. Now I agree going OT again feels like a missed opportunity at other positions but I'm just not sure they'd have much choice.

I'm too lazy to research this but Favre said we should not have picked Wentz. Anyone know who he favored for the Eagles? Just curious, looking back in hindsight...

You said my post was a very pro-Hurts post and it really wasn't, I mean it's not like I'm a fan of his or anything, as a matter of fact I couldn't tolerate watching him at 'Bama.

It was a pro-bench Wentz post, that's not to say I'm an anti-Wentz guy because I'm not, dude just needs to work on some things just as everyone else on the offensive side of the ball.

There’s no such thing as a can’t miss prospect. Three offensive linemen were selected #2 overall since 2009: Jason Smith, Greg Robinson, and Luke Joeckel. All three were busts.

The hard thing about rebuilds is you don't draft the sexy positions all the fans scream for, you build the O and D lines FIRST- or nothing else matters. You can't throw to your sexy draft WR if your QB is eating dirt before he throws it to him. Your O line has to be great for the team to have a chance to be great. D line too.

Yep. Agreed. We won our SB largely because we had the best OL in the League. And, look at how bad Dallas is this year because their OL stinks. Look what happened to Burrow. Cincy's OL is bad. This draft should be about restoring the trenches on both sides.

Yes, sir. I mean, I always want that killer WR or RB, but the game is won or lost in the trenches 1st and foremost. That O line has to be priority.

We actually have good OTs tho. One is injured, the other is actually playing quite well. We also have a first round pick from like 17 months ago that we haven’t given a legitimate chance to, yet. We also have one of the best guards in football coming back from injury next year. The issues with the oline are age and depth. It’s a position that needs to be addressed, but I wouldn’t address it in the top 10 picks of the draft, unless it’s clearly BPA.

People don’t seem to realize that Jordan Mailata is playing really well.

OL are assets. I think we have to plan as if Lane and Brooks are done. If they aren't, then it's even more depth.  Mialata could compete at LT or RT next year.  Dillard concerns me. He tears a bicep before the season even starts. It's not as if he had played a lot of games and the wear and tear weakened the muscle.  I think they should try to get him healthy and then see if they can shop him.  Most teams will trade for OL. So, if we have too much talent on the OL, I wouldn't be worried about that at all. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Isaac. When he goes against good DTs, it looks like he gives up easily. I hope they draft at least 4 OL in this draft, mostly guards and possibly a center (2 Guards, a C and an OT).  We need to get an athletic line. We are terrible at screens and part of the reason is our OL just isn't strong and athletic enough to get out there to execute them well.  If Sewell falls to us somehow, we should absolutely take him. If there is a 10 year OT candidate on the board, you have to jump at it.  Let Mialata then push Lane next year for RT. Then, you can have Driscoll be the emergency tackle or even Dillard (or trade him for what you can get).

I know what you mean. I just think we need to give Mailata and Dillard a chance. Right now, nobody is going to give us anything for Dillard. I don’t think trading him for nothing is a smart idea before giving him a legit chance. And I feel Mailata’s value will only increase the more he plays. I just think it’s a year too early to prioritize OT near the top of the draft. If Mailata and Dillard both fail next year, we’ll be in the top 10 again, and should have a chance to get a replacement.

I agree that we need to prioritize the interior of the line in the other rounds.

I think the skill players they have are good, and better coaching, O line play and QB play would make the group doable.

An upgrade at WR is still needed but not necessarily the top need.

I can't wait for the Flyers season to start. That team is alot more fun at the moment.

Last I checked Lawrence was consensus #1 pick and Fields was top 3? Is that still true? Or is there a chance one of them are there at 5-6?

I feel the same was about Dillard, no offense, but those West Coast players are soft.

He said the Donovan Mcnabb pick was a great one, back 20 years ago.
