I’d be ecstatic with Carson Strong at 51.

You'd still take him at 51 even after the trade?

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

I would. Getting to the point you'll have to pay Jalen 30+ mill a year. Rather have someone in building to groom than give Jalen a franchise tag or worse, a long term contract

Especially after the trade.  I’m less excited about the 2023 class than most.  If we could still get my top qb prospect from this draft for a 2 while maintaining the optionality to still address the position next year with an extra first, that’s a win/win.

Yup.  Only QB I really am interested in this whole crop.   I know there is risk, but that arm...

I think we draft DT and DB/WR in round 1.

Probably picking for need at a DB/WR at 51.

Don't think Carson Strong is still there at 51.

That hurts to even read.  The worst part is this and the fact that his trade value is zero next off season.  Nothing but bad.

That's why I'm thinking Strong is a possibility. This team historically loves QBs with cannons (Cunningham, Mcnabb, Vick, Wentz) so I really don't expect them to invest in a middle of the road arm for long term. This feels like the kolb era to me. Short and eventually very forgettable

Kolb, while a total flop, was at least accurate with a quick release.  Hurts is truly remarkable in terms of how little he has to work with as a passer despite being handed a multi-year starting job in the NFL.

Almost everyone has SOMETHING as a passer...may be raw, but big frame with a big arm.  May lack physical talent, but top notch polish/mechanics/reads.  Hurts is problematic across the board from a passing standpoint.  There are no strengths.

That's true, but those guys were also extremely mobile.  Strong is a statue back there ala, Drew Bledsoe, Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.  He's not going to be making guys miss if the protections break down.  Very different from those other 4.

There is no spoon.

Those guys could work the pocket like no other though. You don't need to be mobile when you know how to slide around in the pocket and make the correct reads.

So Strong would essentially be good with a top Oline... which we have when healthy

I don't disagree... but he doesn't fit the mold of any of those 4.

Assuming the knee checks out... yes, I think so.

I like the ring count from those guys versus who I listed lol

Well, I was comparing the style of play, not declaring him to be the next Brady or Manning.

Definitely don't think Strong is that level of talent, but I feel that style of QB will always have the long term advantage over the runners. My original point I made forever ago was the lack of elite anything from hurts other than mobility. Usual mobile comes with a rocket arm and then they need to figure out the between the ears stuff....he has nothing else at elite. Really don't think he has much else considered above average

I wonder what the Eagles could get in trade for Jalen Hurts.

A second rounder?

I'd be thrilled but I seriously doubt it

A conditional third in 2024

Conditional pick....probably.

A third might be a little high.

Probably not in this market. Too close to the draft.

Teams wanna see what they get in the draft.

During the draft? Maybe, but for what? Is he a throw in to move up from #15?

Hurts' trade return would likely be highest from a team impacted by a QB injury.

That's why I said 2024. Something far enough away that feels like a victory, but really isn't

Maybe Jalen Hurts will change his jersey number to #12.

You guys know ball. I hope we do draft him. There's no gaurantee we'll be able to get our hands on the top two QB's next year so taking a guy we like in the 2nd round this year isnt a bad idea. We need to give ourselves as many chances as possible to find "the guy". If this is true, I believe the QB he's alluding to is Strong. If im right, it's hard for me to believe Howie wouldnt jump at the chance to take him at 51 if he's there.
