Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

So Strong would essentially be good with a top Oline... which we have when healthy

Per PFF, in 2020 Strong had a 92.0 passing grade in a clean pocket and a 93.8 in 2021. Eagles had the 2nd highest pass block win rate behind only the Rams last season. I think Strong could be a damn good QB in our situation given his knee stays healthy. Good enough that eagles fans could pretend they named their sons after him instead of Wentz lol.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Hurts is the guy for 2022 season. Even if they draft strong at 51 he's not going to be a starting QB this season unless hurts get injured. Even last season minshew only played when hurts was either injured or being saved.

Hurts had some terrible games and wasn't benched so i doubt he will be this year.

I believe that the leash is shorter for Hurts this year, especially if there is a QB from Round 2 sitting behind him...

Isn't that what happened with the other Carson when he was starting and struggled with a second round pick behind him?

Minshew could take over tomorrow.

We should put a beer wager on the over under on what game of the season Minshew starts:

1) Jalen Hurts benched: week 13

2) Jalen Hurts injured: week 7

3) Jalen Hurts traded: won't happen this year

Winners and ties for closest to the result in each category get treated to beers by the rest of the crew at Chickie's and Pete's on Pattison during Eagles away game.

Bring your money.

Minshew isnt 6'4 with a cannon arm nor is he a high draft pick. If we were to come out with the same pass heavy gameplan we had through the first 7 weeks last year, Strong would be starting by midseason.

I'm thinking that as well. He was allowed to struggle last year as how most people treat first year starters....now if you struggle like a first year your second year, they will yank you. Nobody deserves to start, they have to earn and even harder, keep the job.

If Jalen Hurts struggles, Minshew will be the most popular player in the stadium.

" We want the Moustache " chants will be heard before the Eagles are eliminated from playoff contention next year.

I would of started him another week or two last year due to Hurts ankle issue. The team didn't do that in case minshew racked up numbers and then it would of been impossible to pull him

Last year was his 2nd year. He's going into his 3rd year

First year full time starter. Guess I didn't make that clear. He may have started a few games before, but he didn't enter the season as the guy. Last year he did and was given a year to flail around. Next year, I don't think he is given such luxury that we accept junk time stats as something to build on

I find it insane that people don't count 2020. Good day

I'm not a Jalen guy at all....you know this right? He had starts, but wasn't the season starter...it's really not hard to figure out. He didn't hit a full season of starts until late season last year and I would say played like a backup who got to start. He gets backup QB and back RB numbers for this league. I think our backup right now would smoke Jalens numbers within the same offense.

This year I’m at peace with that. Everyone said he won’t be rattled so if he does struggle he can prove that too.

If they don’t add a qb in the draft, Hurts won’t get benched under any circumstances.

If they do, he’ll probably get benched whenever they play 2-3 consecutive decent defenses.

Nick Foles threw for 7 TDs against the Raiders in like his 8th start.

And everyone minimized it. "The DB fell down!"

Nobody can deny, when Foles was on fire, he played like a top five QB.

Even when he played well, the haters came out in full force to tell you why it didn't count. Hmmm, sounds familiar...

Their ceilings as QBs are completely different lol

Different? Yes. Incomparable? Yet to be determined.

I think we'll know by mid season if the kid has it or not. I feel he's a six foot man with a seven foot ceiling, but I'd love to be wrong

Incomparable.  Foles was a guy who could get hot PASSING the ball.  Hurts is a guy who is only effective when he's able to RUN.  Completely incomparable.

Hurts' passing skills are underrated, and if he can make a modest improvement passing the ball and decision-making, the dynamic edge that his running gives him will make them comparable in their overall ability to win games.

Will it?  How did that work out against playoff teams last year?

Hurts' passing skills aren't underrated, they are underdeveloped.

How? Because a true dual threat is hard to stop.

I think they're both. The question is whether they can be developed further. I think it's worth another season to find out.

Until the playoffs... then the 'dual' threat becomes a single threat and they shut down their passing, because they are underdeveloped.

Seems we have no choice but to wait another season.  So, we wait... and we watch... and we cringe when he can't throw left, fails to see wide open receivers consistently and looks completely out of his element against top teams.
