December 14, 20204 yr Too me, thats the difference I say at the QB position today. A bit more decisiveness. Even to run. Pocket breaks down, get out. Obviously you'd prefer a throw prior to the pocket collapsing. But for a firs career NFL start it was encouraging. And the passes were on target. That was what I was worried about and it didnt prove to be a big issue. His completion percentage wasnt great but he threw away at least 4 balls, preserving distance over downs. You can tell even though he is young, he came from pro style college teaching.

He gets out of the pocket so quickly which against such a good defense was key. 2 minutes ago, Gannan said: That was entirely based on the QB holding on to the ball for a shorter amount of time. Hurts did a good job out there with his feet and with his head. The play-calling helped by not over-emphasizing passing. Players like Mailata, Herbig, and Driscoll are getting better and/or a little more comfortable.
December 14, 20204 yr He wasn't rattled. No happy feet.. no real bad decisions..confidence..coachable.. good reads.. And something not really being mentioned Leadership.. leaders make other players want to play well. All the things we haven't seen this year. Where are the "wasted pick" folk? We "rebuilt" our offense before we needed to with a single 2nd round pick. That performance was vs the best defense in the NFL and the 2nd ranked rushing D. His decision making in the pocket was noteworthy. We did NOT see a "spark"... we saw a complete shift in the attitude of this team. Can't wait to see this kid behind Dillard, Brooks, and lane Johnson.
December 14, 20204 yr The mobility alone got us several first downs and kept the chains moving. I agree that Jalen made some really quick and smart decisions. This was the reason sacks were low because he either got the ball out quick or got the 1st down with his legs. He only made one bad rookie mistake with the fumble. Nice balance of run and pass. Took what the defense gave him. Also he had another 4th Down TD but to Alshon after last week's 4th and 18 TD. I give his performance a Grade of A. It would be an A+ but I have to dock him for fumble. When was the last time we had a 100 yards Rushing for a QB? Vick? Mcnabb? Wow.

If you don’t think Wentz is the guy, then don’t sign him to a huge contract. If you think he is, then you sign Wentz and build around him. Howie tried to have it both ways.

There was much discussion as to whether we should sign him when we did and most on this board said no, but dumbarse thought he knew better and signed him anyway.
December 14, 20204 yr Absolutely no complaints. His first NFL start vs the #1 ranked D. Played smart. Wasn't expecting a win, only competent play. That's exactly what we got. It's refreshing.

He was going down, he had two hands on the football and was trying to protect it. It was a really good play by the defense.

December 14, 20204 yr Like I said in the GDT, if nothing else, it was at least an entertaining game to watch. The first 11 1/2 games had been very boring and lack luster. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't know what Hurts will be once there is some more film on him, but we at least got to watch a fun game for a change. Even the 3 other wins were drab and dull for the most part.

Stop linking Hurts to the bad decision re giving Wentz all that money. Calling this a Wasted pick after what we have witnessed with Wentz is just not accurate. This kid can play football. Sure we don't want to anoint him after 1 game.. but we could be looking at McCown under center right now while wondering what the hell we're gonna do about the most important position in football re: our future... but because of that 2nd round pick..we already know what we're gonna do. Wentz sits down.. and suddenly there are no sacks and Alshon has a TD catch.. He didn't just "have a good game".. he looked like a good NFL QB vs the league's best defense. .. behind 2nd and 3rd string o linemen.. that accounts for something a little more than "having a good game". This pick doesn't just NOT look wasted.. with wentzs' regression..it now looks freaking brilliant. Whether we like it or not.
December 14, 20204 yr I get that wentz is making a lot of money. But this argument that he has to play because of it makes no sense. It’s not like Hurts is going to make more this year or next year while starting. The team salary is the team salary no matter how many snaps wentz gets. It’s perfectly logicl that if the guy sucks he can make 35 mil on the bench just like if he was injured he’d be making 35 mil on the bench as well while Hurts plays.

That was just a great defensive play.
December 14, 20204 yr Hurts made some plays today, particularly running, that Wentz does not make. And the team played better with the monkey off their back. Give Doug credit here. He’s got some big balls and it paid off today. Happy for Jalen et al. Must feel nice to win after so many awful losses.
December 14, 20204 yr Ohh boi, Skip Bayless is going totally destroy Shannon Walk it to em Wentz today..

It happened in dallass and they were fine. Romo was signed to big $, broke his back? Dak took over and never looked back.
