Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Honestly, a Hurts/Strong QB controversy is a lot more palatable than a Hurts/Minshew one. What a waste of time that was.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Either way, I expect Strong competition.

I want to unload Minshew so that there is no barrier to Strong getting his shot when Hurts screws up.  I don't know that Strong is the guy, but he's got the ingredients.  If he doesn't put it together, oh well.  Didn't cost us anything.  We know Hurts sucks.  We know Minshew isn't good.  Let's let Strong learn for a bit and see what he can do at the end of the year.

It's a difficult one this because some were really high on Strong. I mean at one point there were noises that he could go in the second or third. I'm guessing he fell due to that knee?

Normally I would say don't be delusional with your expectations with Strong, he'll be lucky to just be activated on game days.

But considering I'm already all in on breaking the draft bank for a 2023 QB. I'm down for a 1 year Carson Strong hype train. LFG!

Agreed. I have no issue with Strong getting a look at the end of this year if Hurts can’t improve enough.

But he was a UDFA who might not even make the team. Feels like we already have our Nasty Nate winner….

It could take most of the summer to move a QB. Other teams need to sort through their options. QBs get hurt.

Mayfield and Garropolo are on the QB market. And many teams with needs drafted a player.

Wait and see.

Eagles may not need to draft QB in round 1 of 2023.

The Eagles should just let Strong rehab and learn and work hard behind the scenes.  No need to rush him.  It's not really about how good he is now or even the preseason.  It's about how ready (or not) he is at decision time at the end of 2022 season.  He already has more talent passing the ball than our QB1.

The last few pages have been uniquely entertaining, especially once it was clear that someone doesn't understand how trades work.

I don't think there's anything for him to rehab from now.  It's a question of this cartilage condition and whether or not the knee holds up, nothing to do with the ACL.

I'm not 100% sure what the overall issue is or what the exact recovery is.  He clearly played hurt last year and admitted that he played against everyone's wishes, but he did look OK at the senior bowl.  Whatever it it, that knee needs to get better or his NFL future is short.  We will find out soon enough.

The concern with Strong is his medical chart. As Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports writes, Strong suffers from osteochondritis dissecans, a knee condition that includes cartilage problems. Strong has had multiple surgeries on the knee, so that will need to be monitored throughout his professional career, and it is expected to limit his mobility in a big way.

Gotta admit, I have a little PTSD related to QBs named Carson with knee problems.

Will Lurie/Howie permit it? At least until Hurts totally eliminates himself from consideration due to performance? Which will take most of if not the entire season. Maybe Strong can become the starter with 4 games remaining.

Hurts seems like the odd man out now. The backups have a better arm than him. Why not trade Hurts to Ravens?

. Well, we know Lurie wants a passing team.

I don’t think they’d want him.

There will be no competition. Hurts is the clear starter for 2022 and lol at anyone who thinks that an UDFA is going to be battling for the starter spot in his rookie year.

But if Strong can earn a place on the team and if Hurts after 12/13 weeks is clearly not the guy going forward then it makes sense to take a look at him for 4-5 weeks.

There is always competition. Hurts’ biggest competition is with himself, his skills, his ability to execute.

Who says there should be a QB competition this year?  Its clear that Strong has an issue that concerned the teams (and it isn't his arm).  Hurts has a free year and better worry about improving his game and noodle arm or he'll be gone.  Almost everyone has accepted that we are stuck with him and the Wildcat offense in 2022.   But I can easily see how Strong (if healthy) could create a 3rd option for the team at the end of the season.

Nope. I’m sure Jalen had little to do with him coming here.
