Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Week 1 Hurts was good enough overall to get the win. No TD's through the air but no turnovers either. We'll have a better sense of where his development is by mid-season.

The defense was terrible against the run today and 4 man pressure didn't exist once again. Gotta fix the defense in a hurry.

I was told that Howie fixed it.

Mad about what? Projecting much? Sounds like you're mad people are having opinions that don't match your own there

Hurts should be in the RB rankings then.  I’d rank him highly.

Howie threw shiny new parts on the floor, but Gannon can't seem to handle the "some assembly required" part

So week 1 plummets the two Superbowl QBs below Hurts? That's a joke way to look at it isn't it bud? Burrow will end the season well above Hurts. Stafford is better, but is catchable.... Not the way today was played by Hurts, but within reach

If a person is grading players based on week 1's performance, you have to do that with everybody. Is Hurts better than Stafford or Burrow. Probably nobody thinks that yet, but Burrow is coming off a great season for him last year. He could easily fall into the same kind of situation as Wentz (2020) if he keeps playing like he did today. If that happens, people won't be calling him a top 10 QB. It's just one week. It's weird that Hurts gets knocked while others get excused. Critics want Hurts to be able to do what is necessary to win games, whether that is through the air or on the ground. Today, Hurts did just that. He used his arm and his legs and helped this team start the season 1-0 by beating an opponent on the road. Why are we complaining again?

One play that stands out for me. In the 4th quarter on a play, Hurts actually got away from the Blitz. And instead of looking downfield, HE RAN BACK INTO IT. He can't read past his first look still and that's a problem. It's gonna be: AJ isn't open so it's time to run!

First, the Bills are a much better team then the Lions. The Steelers are better as well, so your guy Hurts would have looked like utter trash against them. So, yeah, I'd take either of those QB in an instant over Hurts and anyone with half a brain would as well.

Hurts leaves a lot to be desired. I would most definitely take either of those guys and 15 others over Hurts.

I agree hurts played like the 15th best. That's 15th best QB in the world. It's not an attack to be out there

I was upset all through the game as well. But I think we should give some credit to Detroit's O-line. But the tackling was our biggest issue, which isn't really a surprise since these guys haven't tackled anybody since January.

Tbf I don't remember them tackling many people in January either

That's the thing. Hurts very likely might not be good enough but he's an nfl qb despite what a certain crew might say in another thread

The writing is on the wall and Hurts is who most everyone thinks he is. He leaves a lot to be desired and will definitely play a major role in losing some key games for us. Yeah he will win some games with his legs but certainly not his arm. He's all we got and obviously we're all hoping the best for him. Just don't expect too much more than high light plays running the ball.

The eagles won the game and the offense put up 31 points with the defense contributing 7.

With it being the first game of the year, anything can happen and some teams have improved a lot and some haven't.  Playing the games is what determines that, not speculation, hype, media rankings, or the idiotic "strength of schedule".

There are obviously some things that have to be worked on, the offense put up points, but the passing game was nothing with out AJ Brown.  Defensively, they were lousy.  Huge running holes, poor tackling, poor pass rush........Clearly, they need a good week of practice and film work.

But it's conference win and it's in the books.

So what number does Burrow look like? Stafford?

Stafford is the reigning SB champ.

Your suggestion that Hurts is better than Stafford based on game one is nonsense.

According to Jimmy Kempski, this was one of the loudest stadiums he’s experienced since he’s been covering the Eagles. So credit Hurts and the offense for dealing with that.

As a player 15th is about right. As a passer in the 20s.

He certainly needs to be better as a passer but the lack of INTs is a big plus

His biggest asset is protection of the football

I've been on the EMB since near the beginning before the various transitions.

And one thing always remains the same. Its ALWAYS the same guys complaining about the QB and overlooking everything else. And when I say the same posters, it literally mean the same actual people. They just live their lives online with some miserable, crazy mindset where whoever the Eagles starting QB is needs to bashed. Its irrational at this point.

This one of the worst defensive performances I have EVER seen from the eagles and you jokers are STILL talking about the QB. Put up 31 points against a crap team. That's 31 points!!!! How the hell is the defense not to blame when they late Jared Goff go ape **** and score crazy amounts of points at will in the second half. Some of you are deranged.

Edit: I'm not even gonna fix the grammar..too drunk and angry.

When a young QB has to improve.......he can do all the off season stuff....weights, film work, study.......and then training camp and preseason games and nowadays, starting QB's hardly play, if at all, in the preseason......but it's the regular season that the improvements start to show themselves.  But it also may take 3-4 games to show all aspects of his improvement.

It's easy to look at this game and declare that Hurts hasn't improved.  But you can't just do that with stats.....the coaches will look at every offensive play, break down every thing that Hurts did and didn't do in relation to what the opposing defense did......they'll see the whole field film, the time he got to throw, whether or not he was seeing the field well and what options he had when the protection broke down.

I don't think he played a bad game.....I think the lions defense had good pressure today.  But there were a couple things that were obvious that I saw that he didn't do well.  But again, it's the first game.  And he made up for some of those things with his running ability.  And they won the game and put up 31 offensive points.

Over the next 3-4 games, we'll see if those areas do improve......

#15 in the NFL... are we still ranking Stafford and Burrow ahead of him in this post-game 1 ranking? lol @ the haters

You love trying to label people "haters", who simply are stating facts. What you saw today was the same Hurts from last year- no improvement, one and run. I don't hate the guy. I asked him to help me believe, and he hasn't. People that label others "haters" because they don't agree with them... are a little sick in the head, so.

Goff didn't go ape poop...he managed to out suck hurts.  Hurts was below passable today...barely hit 50% completions, forced balls to AJ all game, ran too often and still kept his eyes anywhere but downfield.  I saw 2 good reads, I'm sure that will double when I see all 22.

OK. I go back to the first board as well. Welcome to a sports forum. It's not the Hallmark Channel, so deal with the fact people are going to complain and call stuff out. Hurts sucks. Deal with it. The defense hasn't played together much yet and has a change of improving. The QB doesn't.

I wonder why people would be discussing the QB in the Jalen Hurts discussion thread.  🤔
