Starting to remind me of another QB who tried being superman and started getting a ton of injuries that played here recently. Take off the cape, hand the ball off, find your receivers and stop the superman bullshi_t. Eh, reminds me of when McNabb first got here. McNabb took every free yard the defense would give him.

But, would you be okay with Jalen Hurts playing for the Cowboys? Yes, but it is financially impossible to get out of Dak's contract, and that would be one hell of a QB controversy.

Just doesn't seem to keep his eyes up once he starts moving. Wish he would watch some Mahomes film where he will roll a certain way to give him the angle he wants and then throws it Get used to it. It'll probably be around for years. He may get marginally better but I doubt run first decreases much.

There will be a defender that is going to take his head off and just accept the penalty. He (and Siri) have to be out of their mind to expose him like that. Especially in a playoff game. Ask Wentz- they will kill shot you to get you out of the game.

September 12, 20223 yr 2 hours ago, eagle45 said: If I were the coach playing this out and just trying to win how we can, I would start telling Hurts to run through contact. It's probably safer than giving himself up late and getting hit mid slide. It'll generate a few more yards too. This likely is true.

I get you hate Hurts, but what did Minshew do to deserve that? Ignore this guy. He's a troll who was convinced Strong was the second coming. Now that Strong can't even make it to a practice squad in the league, he's doubling down on his Hurts hate by basically supporting any guy near the roster other than Hurts.

But it also may take 3-4 games to show all aspects of his improvement. It's easy to look at this game and declare that Hurts hasn't improved. But you can't just do that with stats.....the coaches will look at every offensive play, break down every thing that Hurts did and didn't do in relation to what the opposing defense did......they'll see the whole field film, the time he got to throw, whether or not he was seeing the field well and what options he had when the protection broke down. I don't think he played a bad game.....I think the lions defense had good pressure today. But there were a couple things that were obvious that I saw that he didn't do well. But again, it's the first game. And he made up for some of those things with his running ability. And they won the game and put up 31 offensive points. Over the next 3-4 games, we'll see if those areas do improve...... Spot on. This board was ruled by Hurts haters for a long time who made out that he was a back-up QB at best and that pretty much any other option would be better (including a guy who sadly can't get a job on a practice squad right now). The reality is Hurts is about the 15th-17th best QB in the league. A lot of QBs would have lost that game. The crowd was really loud. The O-Line was not picking up rushers and there was often at least one guy running free on Hurts. He did really well to protect the ball, throw it away when necessary and convert on 3rd down. He also made some really nice throws to Brown. Some tight window throws and the deep ball was a thing of beauty. He wasn't hitting those last year. BUT, a lot the same issues evident. Occasional inaccuracy. Not really going through his progressions or always making the correct reads. I'm still not confident with him throwing in the red zone for those reasons. As you say we will see more over the next few games. His completion percentage was low, but he threw a few away and had a lot of pressure.

Shocked he didn't get a real sniff of playing time with the Eagles in PS. There's gotta be something more to this than has come out. He was never going to supplant Hurts here... but I legitimately thought Strong was going to be given a shot in the NFL.

Clearly there is something fundamentally wrong with him. We can dismiss now any idea that he wasn't getting game time because the Eagles were trying to stash him. So he obviously was so bad that they didn't even trust him to throw in training camp. Maybe it's mental processing or his injuries have messed with his mechanics. Very odd and a shame as I thought we might at the very least have a bargain back up.
September 12, 20223 yr I liked his arm and was excited about what he could do in preseason. Turns out nothing. He made throws that Hurts couldn't but it wasn't enough. 🤷♂️ I've moved on though and don't really care anymore about him

Personally, it doesn't matter if he's the 15-17th "best" QB in the league. What matters is if he's a good fit for this offense and his leadership can get them to win games. We can look at the score, his passing stats, how much he ran or even put a magnifying glass on his "shortcomings" but we have to also give a lot of consideration to the fact that he has the leadership skills that teams want, he has the confidence and respect of the players around him and he has the athleticism that teams are looking for....... Some of the things he has to improve are some of the hardest things for QBs to get better at.......and too many fans don't understand that he was really raw when he was drafted, he's in his 2nd offense as a pro and this was his 19th game.......he shouldn't have started last year, but that point is moot. I mentioned earlier, that young QBs can do all the offseason work, but it's the regular season games where this improvement will show....and that could take a few games. But it will be obvious when the eagles get half way thru the season and Hurts has not shown those improvements. I think the Lions posed a bigger problem than most anticipated.....their pass rush was pretty good and the coverage was good. They blitzed a lot and got the eagles back on their heels. I think Hurts dealt with it as best as he could. The vikings will be the REAL test........LMAO 😄

He may be the 15th to 17th best football players at the QB position, but he is not a top 20 QB.

Also stats are nonsense. The only stat that matters at the end of the day is the win-loss record. It is also the first game of the year and people are acting like this is the finished product. Most teams and players take a few games to get their act together before you know who or what they are.
