A team needs many leaders, and they can come from any position group, but the QB must be a leader in some significant capacity for a team to be successful these days.

I understand all that, it's just not something I concern myself with .

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Fans opinions are highly overrated.

I’d say it’s important to the team and organization as well. If it wasn’t, why would they go through the hassle of having the whole team take a vote, count the votes and then publicly display a stitched Capital "C” on the jersey’s of who the players chose to be captains?

New civil lawsuit filed against Browns QB Deshaun Watson

I keep thinking about the talk of the Eagles getting him to replace Jalen Hurts... dodge a bullet once again.

Unless Howie had an opportunity to completely fleece the Texans and then manipulate the terms of Watson’s contract in a way that heavily favored the eagles… it wasn’t a realistic possibility

Yet some wanted to beg borrow and steal to get him or Wilson. Both would have been disastrous for the Eagles. The Eagles weren’t a quarterback away from anything. Not sure why all of the smart online GMs couldn’t figure that out.

I think we are looking pretty good right now. If Hurts keeps playing like he has, this team is a contender.

Do you realize how many upgrades the Eagles made this off-season? Do you realize none of them would have been possible if they traded for any of those quarterbacks people wanted?

Never wanted him.   Glad we steered clear.  Too much swirling around him.  Just a bad situation to invite into your situation and pay ridiculously for the privilege both in draft capital and contract.   Browns were fools.    (Where have I heard that before?)

12 total TDs, 2 turnovers, 6 consecutive games where he outplayed the QB across from him (yeah this one was a backup, but hope it continues)

Love it!

I'm definitely guilty of dismissing Hurts and I was wrong. I'm happy to admit that

That's his mantra and that's this teams identity now... 6-0 isn't enough and there's still a lot of work to do.

Much respect.  It takes a real person to admit they were wrong. This has been a good wrong for sure.

I know some people around here still don’t want to admit this, but many of those intangibles (tireless worker, great leader, student of the game, highly competitive, son of a coach, athletic ability, and so on) are exactly the reasons why the Eagles are 6-0 right now. At this point in the very least if people aren’t lining up to admit they were wrong for picking Wentz over Hurts then I truly question their character.

Here we go. The chance to check off the 2nd box comes 1 week from now. For EagleVa, that's 7 Earth spins.

This is a biggun. The winner of this game will be leading the division, and have a leg up on the other team with a rematch later on in Dallas. Jalen's first 2 outings against Dallas haven't gone well. Both were in Dallas. This is a monkey he needs to get off his back.

Go get it young man.

He got it done again. Perhaps most impressive is his ability to take care of the ball. Only two official turnovers, and one I wouldn’t fault him for. The 3rd box is going to have to wait awhile, so for now, just keep making the season fun.

Oh, and kicking the sheet out of the Giants would be cool too.

I'm happy to admit being wrong about Hurts; he's far better than I expected.  But I'm still not convinced he's good enough.  The Titans and Ravens had people convinced they were wrong about Tannehill and Lamar Jackson en route to #1 seeds, countless regular season wins, and even an MVP...but those two running teams who relied on limited passing just complementing the run game ultimately had QBs that werent good enough, despite everybody being "wrong" about those QBs being able to win in the NFL.

I just don't like that our offense lives at the line of scrimmage, struggles to stretch it out, and gets worse the more it leans on the passing game.  Hurts is dynamic and clutch and that's a major reason we are winning, but his pure passing certainly isn't.  And I'm not sure how much championship success a team can have with that formula.

The dude is 7th in the NFL in passing yards, and 7th in passer rating… I think he’s been just fine throwing the ball. In fact, of the 6 QBs with more passing yards only 2 (Allen and Mahomes) have a higher passer rating.

Right now, he’s one pace for 4289 passing yards, which would be the franchise record. Yes, there are 17 games now, but even if you extrapolate his numbers over 16 games he would finish at 4037… franchise record is 4039. McNabb’s great 2008 season he only had 3916.

Im 95% of the way there in believing Hurts is a Super Bowl caliber QB. The one thing he still needs to prove IMO is that he can consistently beat the blitz. He does still struggle when teams sell out blitzing, and he needs to work on getting the ball out quicker on a hot route when that happens.

Aside from that, I have no concerns about him anymore.

This is an oline issue and not a qb issue. They were fine throwing down the field before they got seriously banged up at multiple spots.

And that may be a fair point.  While not every team will have the edge rush Dallas has, I do think unreliable pass protection from the OL will persist all year.

That's not as accurate as you'd like it to be. One year, the Titans lost with a strong passing performance. One year they lost to the Ravens in the playoffs. One year the Ravens lost to them in the playoffs. That neither team has won it all with their recent approach has more to do with the whole team than the QBs. Sometimes the opponent is just the better team. In any given year, if the league only has 3 or less teams whose strength offensively is running, that means there are less chances that a running team will win it all. In Super Bowl LII, the stronger passing team with the better passing performance lost to a team with a lesser QB that had a great day. The play at the LOS was the difference that day.

I'd like it to not be accurate, considering that's how we are built.

THAT is my concern also....when they blitz him, he seems to have absolutely no answer whatsoever but I believe he will correct that one too.....his hard work and work ethnic has really impressed me because his desire to get better is why we are where we are right now....
