Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

THAT is my concern also....when they blitz him, he seems to have absolutely no answer whatsoever but I believe he will correct that one too.....his hard work and work ethnic has really impressed me because his desire to get better is why we are where we are right now....

This game I saw Gainwell literally block no one on an all out blitz. There was another play where the linebacker had a free shot, and when Lane went down Parsons kind of took over. This game to me it felt like losing a few linemen caused a lot of the problems. I mean Tom Brady wasn’t chewing out his linemen because they were getting the job done. Pressure makes nearly every quarterback look worse than they are.

I think I remember the exact blitz you are talking about......it really pissed me off because it was like they ALL came at Jalen untouched......

Yeah, the blitzes/pressures that got through this game basically left players untouched running at Jalen. I recall maybe two plays where he bounced out of the pocket unnecessarily early but most of them I wouldn't put on him.

People were so wrong about this guy

The dude is 7th in the NFL in passing yards, and 7th in passer rating… I think he’s been just fine throwing the ball. In fact, of the 6 QBs with more passing yards only 2 (Allen and Mahomes) have a higher passer rating.

Right now, he’s one pace for 4289 passing yards, which would be the franchise record. Yes, there are 17 games now, but even if you extrapolate his numbers over 16 games he would finish at 4037… franchise record is 4039. McNabb’s great 2008 season he only had 3916.

Im 95% of the way there in believing Hurts is a Super Bowl caliber QB. The one thing he still needs to prove IMO is that he can consistently beat the blitz. He does still struggle when teams sell out blitzing, and he needs to work on getting the ball out quicker on a hot route when that happens.

Aside from that, I have no concerns about him anymore.

He's a very good run threat that keeps Ds wondering, but he didn't show much last night that he can throw the ball with pressure without starring down a WR. He had a few good throws to Brown and I'll add the Smith throw, but if he can't run I still have serious questions about his ability. No deep shots at all last night, which could have been good I couldn't see what was going on down the field. I also don't know the plays that were called, so that might not have been on him.

So yeah...he's playing well and I'm coming around on him and hoping for the best, but we have not seen a QB who can put the team on their back when running the ball or scrambling isn't an option. We haven't seen a QB who can carve up a d in the air on a drive the way we saw in the KC/Buff playoff game last year at the end. I'll feel a lot better once we see that because that is what it comes down to in the playoffs. That doesn't mean he can't show that, but he hasn't yet. Kudos to him for beating a good D though.

The cowboys do have a top 5 pass defense. They are tough to throw on. The QBs they had faced before last night:

Brady: 212 yards, 1 TD, 1 int

Burrow: 199 yards, 1td, 0 int

Jones: 196 yards, 0 TD, 1 int

Wentz: 170 yards, 1 TD, 2 int

Stafford: 308 yards, 1 TD, 1 int

Not surprised Hurts didn’t do a ton through the air. But that’s why it’s good to have a balanced offense. Play against a great pass D, and you can lean on the run. And vice versa.

Like I said that could have been a good thing I haven't watched the tape. If he can show that though they will be good to go for years.

There’s a few real flaws I have seen so far with this team. One is their special teams play overall. Another is how they seem to go into lulls at points in the game and a major flaw is the line doesn’t handle the blitz well. I guess that should be expected when so many guys have been in and out of the lineup during games but it is still troubling. What do people think Wentz would have done in those situations? What about Minshew? I can tell you this that most of these Jalen critics would have completely ripped the line.

We really agree here. Special teams is downright awful, in my opinion. Jalen can't do much when after the ball is snapped a defender is immediately in his face. Wentz would have had a few concussions by now....

Definitely a fumble or two. Wentz doesn’t understand that sometimes you have to give up on a play to protect yourself and the football. Playing like every play is your last isn’t smart football. It might give you admiration from the fans, but it will often take you out of the lineup when your team needs you most. Hurts wisely went down on some of those jailbreaks and he threw the ball away when the play wasn’t there. Don’t make mistakes. Live to fight another down.

Agreed again. I love his maturity and he seems to be the QB going forward....I wasn't completely sold on him last year or the previous but now I am. I was going to stick with whoever was behind center regardless but I am GLAD that I was wrong about him. He is playing smart and the team is rallying behind him....I love his work ethic and his determination to get even better....you just cannot get any better than that.....

Howie looks smart for deciding to pull the trigger and deciding to take Hurts.

"Week 7 - vs. Green Bay Packers (3-3)

Week 8 - at Indianapolis Colts (3-2-1)

Week 9 - vs. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

Week 10 - at Philadelphia Eagles (6-0)

And so it appears Wentz is on track to miss playing in his return to Lincoln Financial Field. That’s unfortunate for a few reasons.

  • For starters, it would be fun if the Eagles dominated Wentz again like they did in Week 3. Especially with the crowd getting on him.
  • Wentz’s backup, Taylor Heinicke, might actually be an upgrade for Washington. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a limited talent. But Heinicke can run around and generally has more moxie to offer than Wentz does.
  • Wentz missing games helps the Commanders send a 2023 third-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts instead of a 2023 second-round pick. The threshold for the conditional pick is Wentz playing at least 70% of the snaps this year. Even if Wentz is healthy enough to return after four weeks, the Commanders might not be incentivized to play him again. If Heinicke outplays him, they could just stick with him. If Heinicke struggles and Washington keeps losing, they could admit it’s a lost year and look to turn to rookie quarterback Sam Howell.”

Looks like Carson’s injury will once again prevent us from seeing him play in a crucial moment.

Not understanding the reason we should be concerned? That team is a laughing stock and nowhere near a threat to us.

We should still win the game, but considering how easily rattled Wentz can get him being out there is a better advantage. Also with him not out there the Commanders are more likely to stay with the run. We also know he has no problem giving up that football too. In many ways they are a worse team with him out there. You’ll see.

THE IRON EAGLES

(Jalen joins Donovan and Jaws as the only Eagles QB's to start 6-0)

Jalen has done nothing but improve every single year he's been with us.   I'm very happy the Front Office and Coaches has given him the time to continue to grow and develop.  And now us Fans.....the ones that believed and even the ones that didn't are reaping the benefits of an amazing Eagles Season in the making.    Jalen Hurts has now lead the Eagles to 9 straight regular season wins dating back to the end of last season.   As for last night.  The Passing Numbers weren't sexy or anything but you have to watch the game.  Jalen led two very long drives that was the difference.   I was so happy that Miles, AJ and Devonta got the TD's too.   Jalen got some air TD's last night and didn't rush for one which was a shock considering I feel like he's going to get a Rush TD every game, lol.    Anyways I'm very proud and happy that the future of our team is looking so bright with this young man leading the way.   The debate is over.  Show him the money, 5 year extension after this season.

Meh, they're the least of our worries no matter who they got at QB. That's a free win regardless

We should win, but I like the certainty of a victory with the other guy.

4 more sacks and 16 points from Wilson. The Broncos got fleeced.

No free wins in the NFL.  Beware the Joe Webb.

It’s like he’s trying to fail. 😂

My gosh if people had their way Russ would be ignoring wide open guys and throwing to Reagor. 😂

What is going on with Russ this year... He's been really bad.

Russ was bad last year after he returned from injury too. I wanted no parts of this dude. Frankly I didn’t want to get any of the three (if Rodgers was truly available) because I never thought the Eagles were a quarterback away from anything. I’m glad things are the way they are.
