Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

I don’t think trust is the determinant factor, although it’s safe to say Allen has earned more trust.

Eagles pass less than the Bills, because they have an amazing run game, and the games are mostly already won in the first half.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Sorry if this is elsewhere, but I didn't see a thread. Mods, feel free to merge.

It's amazing to me that in among all the noise, we might have not celebrated that Jalen Hurts is the first Philly QB - EVER - to win ten straight regular season games. That's an incredible team achievement, I knew we had it good right now, but this is historic stuff we are witnessing. Take it all in and enjoy

Hurts on his way to becoming the best QB in franchise history.  About to break more than a few franchise records this season.

You’re missing the point entirely. Would Allen’s numbers be that great if he didn’t have Diggs? Because that’s what you’re questioning about Hurts.

We are never getting Mahomes or Allen. Get off their nuts, our guy is 7-0 and playing great.

Sad thing is that rather than admit he was badly wrong and get fully behind our new franchise QB, who is a legitimate MVP candidate, he is now complaining that he’s not as good as the best 2 QBs in the league in his 3rd season.

Sad to see.

And more to the point so what? Mahomes is a very very special talent and Allen is a damn good QB. There's no shame being in the same conversation as those guys but perhaps a little behind them.

Why does Allen have more touches?? Could it be the coaching staff trusts him more.

Or it could be that most of the Eagles games this year are put away by halftime, so the second half is about slowing down and controlling the clock.

That's definitely played a part but I think the team looked at that over the bye week and want to correct it.

Absolutely. The Bills have been in few shootouts this year and Josh Allen had that killer game against the Steelers so that all drives up the averages.

This is not to say that Allen and Hurts are on the same level. Allen is obviously the better passer. It is just that using stats as an argument in football is dumb.

Any reason we aren't talking about how Jalen Hurts QB Rating this season is 105? He only threw two touchdowns which one was a tip & other to Zach pascal I think was a tip too if I remember (it not Zach didn't run route correctly I can't remember).

Jalen Hurts is having a fantastic season, 61.34% completions, 1,799 passing yards, 10 passing TDs, sacked 18 times, rushing 3.8 yards per carry, 6 rushing TDs, 3 fumbles but they were all recovered by the Eagles.

If he continues at this rate all season, people will be like Carson Wentz, Donovan McNabb who>?

After living thru the Vick vs Foles stuff that I admittedly took part in.. I just couldn't do it again. It's like, it's ok to criticize players.. but wishing injury on them so the other guy can start is just crazy.

Some of those posters were clearly on the spectrum of something other than football and that’s why they’re so silent right now. They’re not happy the team is winning with a quarterback they hate. You know the old saying "if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all.” They’re silence speaks volumes about their true lack of character.

If Jalen continues on the pace he’s on, he will be the second quarterback in Eagles history to throw for over 4000 yards. He will likely surpass Carson’s numbers as well. Of course if the Eagles lock the conference up too soon he might not get that chance. 😂

Can't enjoy anything on this message board

He has a 67.0% completion not 61.34%.

This is why I came out after a few weeks and said something. Kid skipped over making top 15 and arguably has made it into top 5 conversation for this season. I said Sunday was elite play, second of the season. Not much competition in front of us until the playoffs and he has comfortably beat two of the teams we will see already. I give a bunch of credit to Nick for adjusting the gameplan during the offseason to make it fit perfectly for what Jalen is and Howie for making sure the defense had no excuses to be elite and getting AJ.  With Brady on the way out, Wilson forgetting how to cook, and Rodgers playing on mushroom tea....Jalen will definitely be in that top 10 conversation next year and should help shoot the expectations for the next few years to the moon. Howie will have to figure out how to keep so many people on that defense, but the offense seems figured out and ready to go. Hell, this offense was stolen the last few weeks by Chicago and has made Fields look way less ish.

We could look at nearly all of the quarterbacks people wanted over Jalen this season (that were available) and I don’t think any of them has a winning record right now. This team isn’t winning despite Jalen Hurts. It’s winning because of him and his overall improvement. Howie has assembled on heck of a football team and he and Jeff also hired a really good football coach capable of adapting for the betterment of the football team. Steichen has really been outstanding as the OC and Gannon with weapons has crafted a great defense. Really the Eagles could lose their offensive and defensive coordinators to HC jobs next season.

Jalen is definitely part of the winning equation. That's why I'm so high on the coaches

I’m hoping these coaches can be replaced, because they’re on a fast track to their own coaching jobs.

Same. I think we will be changing both next year. Both sides are killing it

Yeah, but that’s a problem for the future. The now is too darn good to worry too much about that.

I love that Hurts went out and threw 4 TDs and threw longer passes, he is developing his game more.

You know when people talk about the better QBs in the league they don't minimize they're performance because they have good receivers.  I never see people say well Josh Allen has Diggs so yeah let's see him perform without him.  Now that the Eagles have Brown, Smith and Goedert as well as some decent depth guys in Watkins and Pascal, Hurts has quality people to throw to.

There has been valid criticism of Hurts because he was developing and there were things we weren't yet seeing, but he showed potential.  Then there are ridiculous criticisms and downplaying of anything he did just out of blind hatred for him.  Examples in his earlier starts he did throw accurate passes, he did throw longer passes downfield and did show a strong arm.

This year with a strong roster, 2nd year offense and all the consistency we're seeing that potential realized.  I still want to see him in crucial situations having to pick apart a defense by passing downfield in a 2 minute drill or late game situation, and to see him perform in the playoffs.  Last year seeing some of the playoff QBs was impressive; I want to see Hurts go to that level.  He's certainly going to get the opportunity.

Yep. I mentioned a few times a few boxes I wanted him to check off. He got 2 of them. The last big one is to play well in the playoffs, and hopefully be the driving force behind a win, (I phrase it like that because I hate giving win/loss records to QBs). There are more minor things I want to see also. The 2 Giants games will be huge, as well as the game in Dallas.. Like you mentioned, as much as I've enjoyed not trailing in any 2nd half, sooner or later, we will be trailing by a score with a few minutes to go. I'm curious to see how he handles that. I have some apprehensions still, but I'm enjoying the moment while it lasts.

His passing ability was a legitimate concern. He's clearly improved but to act like he was playing this way before is a lie

Those tweets weren't part of any argument or debate. This is the Jalen Hurts topic and those were tweets (from known sources) about Hurts. I was just sharing them for people that come here.

In game vs Steelers Jalen Hurts threw 19/28, 285 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs and 140.6 QB rating (highest of the week amongst QBs)!

To be fair, Random Reglar get's a lot of flack for liking running QBs so much, but I think he just recognizes the difficulty today's defenses have dealing with a guy that will take off and run. Obviously you want a guy to be a legitimate dual threat to maximize what you get with the running. The NFL has always been a copy cat league and the normal trend has been to pass first. Most teams try to build their offenses this way and as a result most defenses and concepts have been designed to stop passing teams. Most OLBs are just edge rushers (pass rush specialists), Safeties are being converted to LBs so teams have more guys that can cover, and teams prioritize speed over size and physicality at every position. Base defenses usually have 5 DBs on the field. It was just a matter of time before a team like the Ravens came along and said, "we can take advantage of this." Other teams with young, mobile QBs are being reminded that maybe the days of making a QB fit into a system are coming to an end and now the best way to give them an opportunity to develop is to take advantage of what they do well right off the bat.

It's just a different way of looking at things. Sometimes you have to give credit to the coaches that are willing to try something that isn't the trendy thing.
