Josh Allen is currently the best player in football. He just had a bad game. Let’s relax.

He's being evaluated for an elbow injury that could involve a ligament and nerves.  Doesn't sound good.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Right now, the conversation should be Hurts/Tua/Mahomes/Allen/Hill.

Hurts will not finish the season in the statistically rarified air as the other qbs.  His case rests on the eagles being undefeated.  If they somehow go 17-0, Jalen Hurts is your league MVP.  If they don’t, he’s not going to be considered by the end of the year.

don't agree. Eagles being undefeated is a bonus.

The UCL is the Tommy John ligament, I think.

That’s tough. That’s at least a year for baseball players.

"Quarterback is still the most essential position, but the notion that every team with playoff aspirations must have a proven, $50-million-per-year passer feels dated. Team football is at the forefront, and defenses have come to play. Points are down leaguewide, with the team average of 21.8 points per game the lowest since 2017 and the second lowest since 2009.

This has created a winning lane for teams with differing approaches. Several offenses heavy with rushing attempts -- the Atlanta Falcons (303), Eagles (276) and New York Giants (263) -- are in the playoff hunt. Teams with revamped defenses such as the New York Jets (6-3) and Dallas Cowboys (6-2) are eyeing high playoff seeds.”

Even ESPNis starting to wonder if just throwing big money at a quarterback is the best way to get things done.

With the rules as they are favored to the QB position, wouldn't be shocked if the pay gets stagnant for awhile and schemes change. Still pay for Allen's and Mahomes of the world, but build around the second tier guys (not a slight to them, but there are few and far between elite elites)

Yeah - the fact is the NFL is brutally competitive. Wilson should have definitely had 2 Super Bowls. Brees and Rodgers have been there or thereabouts for years.

Either way, the idea of trading a 24 year old MVP candidate QB is nonsense.

I wasn't talking about trading him, so much, as a re-calibration in the QB market. Overpaying a QB is great if you can surround them with talent. If not, it's more than a touch profligate

Yes being undefeated is helping Jalen shoot up to the top of the MVP race.   Though yes Patrick and Josh have better overall numbers.   But they both have some losses on their record too.   We'll see how the season ends but so far Jalen has made a huge leap this year being in this position. His numbers are fantastic so far.  Hope he can keep it up for the next part of the season where everyone will be trying to take down the Birds.

Also a Hurts Vs Tua Superbowl would be an Anime level story arc.

Hurts is on a pace to do a lot of damage to some of the Eagles passing records. He should surpass Carson’s 2017 numbers and his 4000 pass yard season provided there are no catastrophic injuries. He’s been an offensive weapon for the Eagles so far. Statistically Jalen is not offensively on the same level as Allen, but he protects the ball way better than Allen has so far this season.

How someone can't be a fan of this kid at this point is out of their minds

The Bills getting all they can handle from a team the Eagles blew out. Just sayin.

Wish Downundermike was here to tell us again how superior Josh Allen is

Josh Allen still the MVP favorite? How many picks is too many?

I’d say honestly Mahomes is the favorite but Hurts gotta be above Allen at this point

Mahomes probably has a slight lead, but I don’t think it’s a big lead. If Hurts keeps doing his thing then he’s going to be in this all the way to the end.

A photo of all the Beanbaggers and haters who have been saying Hurts shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as Allen and watching Hurts surpass him in the MVP race.

Josh Allen already has 13 turnovers. Both losses this month were entirely on him

No way in hell he wins mvp this year. It’s hurts and Mahomes down the stretch with Tua and Hill trying to dark horse it

Tua is more of an MVP candidate than Hurts is, as of right now.

That's not to say Hurts isn't one as well. He is.

Just depends on how they factor in the missed games. Cost Carson an MVP

I believe being a cold weather QB in a run-centric offense will play huge into Hurts’ hands down the stretch. Tua in December at SF, at BUF, at NE is not gonna be an easy stretch for him

Also the undefeated thing. If there’s any slim chance it happens, it’ll immediately guarantee Jalen’s MVP even if Tua throws 50 TDs

Ridiculous that Brady is even on that list. I’d have some of the non-QBs like Saquan and Jefferson ahead of him.

Yep, even if there were only 16 games instead of 17 now, Hurts would still be on pace to break Wentz yardage record.

If he can get a slight uptick in completion percentage, he has a shot to take the top spot in franchise history there too . Wentz has the team record at 69.6%. Hurts currently sitting at 68.2%

Even with the talk of his low passing TD numbers, he’s on track to have the 8th best season for the franchise in terms of TDs. He’s been picking up the pace in that regard in recent weeks, so I think he had a real shot at landing around 30 passing touchdowns, which would be good for 4th best.

Then of course there is passer rating, where he’s currently second at 107.8. Never going to break that record though, Foles has it at 119.2 (2013).
