He made clutch plays and was a huge reason why we won the game. Why people are still trying to argue that he's just not that good is beyond me.

Stubbornness, it’s the same reason politics in the US is where it is. People refuse to change their minds even when presented with evidence and data.

Right. Hurts has the offense as top 5 in both yards and points. He is top 5 in rating, QBR and PFF rating. He’s beaten teams with his arms and legs. He’s not perfect. No QB is. But he still can grow and has the work rate to do it.

Amazing that people are saying they wouldn’t pay him 40 million.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Especially since most of them were previously saying you can't compete for a title without a top 5 qb.

Now that we have one, which is a miracle in itself, they don't want to keep him unless he takes a huge discount, which just makes no sense.

Very quick thought: Jalen Hurts could become the player Mike Vick should have been if his head was right

I think the thing for me is he's still young. He's basically the same age now as what Wentz was when he entered the league. Hurts has more time and the potential to grow even more.

I always believed that if Reid got a hold of Vick in his rookie year, he would have been the greatest QB to ever play.

Vick had all the tools but needed a great coach to bring it out of him. Reeves was not that coach.

Totally. He had it all, except between the ears

Reeves could have been that coach.  He was only with Vick for a year or so though and then it was Jim Mora Jr.

Look's like Jalen's historic Performance even got Tommy talking.

"I've never rushed for more than a hundred yards in a season, I don't think," Brady said, via Tim McManus. "I mean, he did it for 150 yards in a game and made it look relatively easy because I saw some of those highlights. And he just has a great skill set to be able to, you know, you gotta have so much spatial awareness too because when you run those guys are coming at you and they're coming fast. And I think when you have his athleticism, but also he knows exactly when to get down, he knows exactly when to get out of bounds. He starts to run, he stop and throws the ball. So his ability to make plays in the run game is very impressive. And 157 yards for anybody is incredible. And then to have the ability to pass the football like he does as well. That's why that team is so successful."

Honestly, I believe Vick had to go through the lows he experienced to become the man he has become. I don't think coaching was the issue in the early years. He was in his own way and needed a wake up call in life. I know some people hate Michael and always will, but I have a lot of respect for how he changed his trajectory and has stayed on the right path since.

Jalen Hurts named NFC offensive player of the week

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts double-dipped on offensive player of the week awards this week.

Hurts was PFT’s choice as the top offensive performer in the entire league in Week 12 and the NFL announced on Wednesday that he was also their choice for NFC offensive player of the week.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/11/30/jalen-hurts-named-nfc-offensive-player-of-the-week/

I still back Hurts, but he is going to get killed during one of his way too many runs. He took a shot that nearly took him out of this game. Yeah, I know, the Eagles are 10-1 and everything is peaches and cream. Just remember, the Eagles were 10-2 or so when Carson Wentz ran the ball and got crunched, playing hero ball. He ran a LOT less than Hurts. MVP season over. Hurts is also having an MVP season. He is also playing hero ball. He is playing running back. Running backs have short careers for a reason.

So the Eagles are now 10-1 and have a QB who just ran for 157 yards, and everyone in the media and most fans are all giddy and chanting MVP. 157 yards is for running backs, not QB's. He is playing hero ball, getting his glory. And he is ONE Carson Wentz Hero Crunch away from sitting out the playoffs and leaving the playoffs up to a backup QB. I'm not going to praise a QB for running for 157 yards and taking nasty hits. Again, that is what running backs are for.

A QB who distributes the ball all around, throws for over 300 yards, no turnovers? Yeah, I'll praise that. But this guy is now bragging about what a great running back he is. He only threw for 153 or so. Great QB? Nah, good running back who is going to get injured if he keeps on running. It doesn't have to be this way, but Hurts isn't going to change. He is going to get his clock cleaned playing as a running back. Hurts.... be the QB of the team and leave the RB position to the RB's. Do YOUR job, and let the RB's do theirs. I hope he never gets hurt. That's all I can hope for.

And then there is this: Since the inception of the Super Bowl in 1967, there has not been a quarterback who was known for his running abilities to win the championship. Mr. Hurts- learn how to make your reads and be a real QB, please. Stop trying to wow the league with your running- it never wins championships.

I won’t try to change your perspective but I will say that I have a fundamentally different view of hero ball than you do. Much of what we saw on Sunday was a QB applying a game plan that clearly was designed to punish the Packers inept run defense. Further, many of those runs were designed and scripted. The combination of these last two sentences are the anti-thesis of hero ball in my book.

They are going to get our QB killed. Then what?

Remind me, which qb didn't finish the game?

Talk to me when they are scraping him off of the turf. Running back QB's NEVER won a Super Bowl.

The Eagles never did either...until they did.  Eventually, a "running back QB" (I don't consider Hurts to be that) will win a Super Bowl.  It also depends on what you consider a running back QB.  Some use the terms dual threat where a QB has balance in his game.  There are "mobile" QBs who are able to move around in the pocket and scramble and look for opportunity to get the ball to the playmakers.

I don't see Hurts playing hero ball at all, and I see him making smart decisions to get out of bounds, slide or go down to avoid getting hit.  I've seen analysts saying that very thing about him that he's making these good decisions.

Hurts has a command of the offense, he is seeing the field better this year, reading the defense better, making pre-snap adjustments, he's taking care of the football apart from one bad game where everyone played poorly.

Hits to cause injury can happen to any player at any time.  Hurts isn't out there playing wrecklessly.  Sam Bradford would get injured just running funny, QBs get hurt sitting in the pocket trying to make a throw which happened to Rodgers this week.  Wentz was the one playing hero ball and throwing his body around too much.  Hurts IMO is taking care of himself.

He's didn't rush as much in certain games this year, he is dual threat and will do what he needs to help the team win.  If that means the offense is stale or the defense is taking things away and he takes advantage with a huge run for a 1st down, so be it.  He has the team at 10-1, they would not be in this position without him.  I'd be concerned if he were like Tebow and just running around not able to throw but that's not the case, he's proven that for good this year.

I consider a running QB who runs for 157 yards and only threw for about that amount of yards a running QB. A running QB is Michael Vick and his lot. The big hit is coming if he runs like a running back, which he is doing. A QB who only runs to supplement his passing game is one thing, but a guy playing hero ball is going to get clocked. The type of runningQB that Hurts is... has NEVER won a Super Bowl. You have to actually be able to go through your reads as a QB and pass the ball. He was doing pretty good, it seemed. The coaches are in on it, too- they are going to get this guy Wentz crunched. I held my breath when Hurts took that really hard rib shot. Balance that sheeeeet out, yo.

It's hero ball to run down the field when all the defenders have their back turned playing man?

You didn't read a word I wrote.   Just repeated your rant. Have a good one.

All the guys that are getting pissed at me for saying that RB Jalen Hurts is going to get Carson Crunched while running- are all going to hide when it happens. Or just make a bunch of excuses. Hurts is like Michael Vick- whooopdeeee freekin do. Vick never did anything but RUN.

A bunch of butthurt people here that I am laughing at, who can't admit they were wrong with their foolish predictions before the season. Some of these peeps were aching for Carson Strong. Funny stuff. They are waiting  for his demise and disappointed. This kid is progressing quite nicely.

All spot on. Particularly your post NOTW. People are looking for any reason to not admit they were badly wrong on Hurts.

They would all cry out for Josh Allen, but Allen puts his body on the line far more than Hurts does.
