Hurts has improved leaps and bounds, but he's been anything but a really good pocket passer.  He is not comfortable in the pocket whatsoever.

I actually think he has done some really good things in the pocket when he scans the field and steps into throws.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

McNabb made a conscious effort to not run that much and try to neglect that part of his game and he was the worse off for it.  That's what makes Josh Allen so dangerous.  He has all the passing ability in the world but he still uses his rushing ability because it's a weapon that makes the defense's job that much harder and the offense's job that much easier.

The moving the goalpost crowd at this point only wants Hurts to win by passing the ball from the pocket and want him to neglect an elite ability he has as a QB.  But thankfully he isn't and as a result he's a MVP candidate, a soon to be All Pro and he has this team at 10-1 and the first team in the NFL to 10 wins.

When, he started the season seeming a lot more willing to stay in the pocket...now he's pretty much regressed back to dropping his eyes and taking off.  Or doing his spin like a headless chicken.  Or just bailing from a clean pocket.

Ever notice how everyone is quick to pound their chest about how good our line is, but when you say something like this suddenly they suck and can't block at all?

The O line is elite...at run blocking, pulls and blocking out in space.  At pass blocking they are not elite.  It was funny that Collinsworth talked up the O line so much vs the Packers, there was a long stretch where Hurts was running for his life on every pass play and then he has to scramble.

I am not really a stats geek, but would like to see how many sacks saved Hurts has this year. This offensive line has regressed in pass blocking this season. No doubt. So for every time Hurts leaves a clean pocket and "leaves some dollars on the table", he has 5 positive plays where he either avoids a sack, avoids a potential major hit, makes positive yardage with his legs, goes out of bounds/throws the ball away to live for the next play or scrambles to make a play down the field with his arm. You can look at that negative all day, but make sure you acknowledge the winning plays he makes and on top of it protecting the ball masterfully this season.

No, but they're fine.

Reading on here you'd think Hurts has pressure in his face immediately. That isn't true.

Everyone that watched the guy he replaced should know that that’s true.

People here must have a short term memory about a guy, who had a strong arm, ideal height/build, but a 10 cent brain & no heart. And til this day still has no clue, how to play the QB position in the NFL. Now we have  someone who throws 3 interceptions in 11 games (2 of them not even his fault), isn't recklessly fumbling the ball nor getting sacked left and right playing hero ball. This guy is being coached hard, making the smart play and taking easy yards that are out there on the field. While working his tail off to improve on his craft & winning football games.

Hurts has been a drastic improvement over Wentz in almost all categories, but especially in the playing smart category. He doesn't hold the ball excessively long, protects the ball as a carrier, and throws very little picks.

I think he might be the most responsible with the ball QB we have had since prime McNabb.

He may not be a pocket passer and runs way more than is desirable, but he also seems able to make the perfect throw when we need it.

There's really nothing about his play I can complain about right now.

People like to talk about pocket comfort. There is no such thing. Its an uncomfortable place by design. If you have no pressure then every QB in the NFL can make good throws. Its about when its not comfortable can you still function. Hurts is functioning like an MVP.

edit - incorrect stats link removed -

For the last 20 years idiots have droned on about how Brady falls apart if you get pressure in his face (duh, so does every other QB to ever play)

Hurts passing from the pocket, deep throws, spreading to Smith, Brown and even backup TE Stoll.

But he's "a running back playing QB."

Great game from Hurts today

Minshew with masterful use of the play clock.   Snapping with about 2 seconds on the clock.   Well done!   MVP type performance from him.

After dominating with run last week, Hurts dominate with the pass this week.

The MVP candidacy is real.

I just wish Hurts wouldn't hold the ball long enough to take unnecessary hits as a passer ... He should protect himself by curling up in the fetal position in a clean pocket like Jim Everett used to do. Playmaking is overrated.

Vilma is a disaster at commentator compared to Talib.

Weird, was told the line can't pass block well.

Seemed to do just fine when he actually stays in the pocket.

I wonder what the narrative this week will be for the haters. Last was too much running, is too much passing this week?🤣

They had some pass block issues today but improved, but the penalties were terrible.

5 rushing attempts, he's out there playing hero ball!

They were.

My point is, they're not as good as they are with run blocking. It's true, but people make it out like they're horrible. They're fine.
