Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

AJ has transformed this WR Group. Jalen and  DeVonta both has benefited greatly from his talent and presence.  2 1,000 Yard WR's (Very soon), 1,000 Yard Rusher.   Goedert was on pace for big numbers too.   AJ coming here has changed a lot for his Offense.   And as I said, he's Light Years better than Reagor and JJ (Though I appreciate their contributions).

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

The additions compliment the guys we kept. Both are better for it.

Talk about won’t be denied though. Jalen refusing to stay down. Crazy.

Wasn’t Jalen’s best game, but he made the plays when he needed to. The deep ball to DeVonta was a gorgeous throw.

Hurts didn't have his best game but he played a large part on why we won. Obviously there's the 3 or 4 cronnies that still hate him on these boards who was hoping he'll fail.

2 things.

1. People are allowed to have an opinion that you don't like a QB because he's black. We get reports for "race baiting" but simply mentioning race isn't something against rules, and the whole "running QB" comments can carry racist stereotypes with them, that's been an issue for decades.

However, excessive trolling is. This can be very subjective, we'll monitor reports and look for trolling or personal attacks. If you're repeatedly calling someone racist without merit that can fall under a warning category.

2. We're a 12-1 team with a QB in the conversation for MVP. If all you want to do is troll and insult fans enjoying this season, seriously?  Go to RnR and rant about him there. I'd suggest to stick to football performance, stats, etc here.

I disagree with this position.

Whenever somebody accuses somebody of being racist, it’s almost always unjustified and the entire conversation falls apart because it’s such a hot button topic. It’s usually an accusation made by somebody who has nothing to bring to the discussion otherwise. It’s purposefully divisive and used as such.

I used to laugh at the Allen/Hurts comparisons, not laughing now.

I still think Allen's talent is otherworldly, but I can't say the comparison is unwarranted now.

Correct.  And we should not have a mod telling us race baiting is ok.

This place needs accountability for mods, or some system of checks and balances.  EMB shouldn't be run based on the corrupt moral code of 1 or 2 active mods.

Of course you think Allen’s physical talents are otherworldly. But, if you’re paying attention, you’ll notice that Jalen has talents that are otherworldly too that makes up for the physical stuff. It’s what we’ve been trying to explain for years.

Now we hope Jalen does what Allen still hasn’t  done and play consistent football.

Speaking of the Cold in Brick Windy City today.  Remember this video from earlier in the season.   He was talking about playing in this game.

People should check their own balances. All I can do is control what I post. When will grown adults figure this out and stop crying about what other people post or what the mods are or aren't doing about it?

Personally, I don't buy the general "racist" accusations thrown at the people that don't like Hurts. It's baseless at best unless it's directed toward a person that actually stated race as a reason for their opinion. I think most of the Hurts doubters have just doubled-down on their old predictions and look for things to rationalize their continued doubt and criticism.

Personally I like Hurts. He's super talented, and if he manages his talents well he should have a long and fruitful career.

That said, I think all the talk about Hurts in the running for MVP might be his downfall. The way he ran the O today seemed like he was playing more for the MVP votes than for position in the post-season. 17 runs for 61 yards. 17 chances for him to get nailed by a DB who'd love to knock him out of contention - while gaining a minimally productive 3.6 ypc (with one big run to skew the numbers - most of his runs today went south.)

Sure it's fun when he breaks a big impressive run, but all three RBs have shown they're just as capable of doing the same. And with three in rotation, there's less chance an injury will seriously impact the team .I wonder how many yards Boston Scott or Gainwell would have racked up with 5 or 10 of those carries today.

We're lucky to have players who are so amenable. Despite their polite team spirit, it must suck to be a RB on a team with a running QB.

We're also lucky to have 3 reliable WRs who get open for big gains, which has saved us after Hurts' less successful runs left us in 3rd and long - and that Hurts is a more effective passer than he is runner.

And to Moderator6 - most ppl who don't want a running QB on their team are not racist - they just hate having a QB who is practically guaranteed to get an injury that will leave him a shaky shell of his spectacular pre-hit self. RG3, Wentz, even the precious Caleb Williams was a dilapidated wreck after taking a bad hit in the Pac12 championship - 180 degrees different than he was in the first 2 possessions. One bad hit is all it takes. And if God forbid it happens to Hurts, we better hope that Minshew is as good as Foles was.

More QBs get hurt in the pocket, taking hits as a stationary target. We all know RG3 got hurt and was "rushed back" only to make things worse. Injuries happen to all positions. But this myth about running not being "sustainable" is baseless. Pretty much every QB not named Eli Manning suffers a major injury at some point in their career along with several minor injuries. A majority of them are not runners and were not hurt while running.

There have been several mobile QBs that were mobile throughout long careers --- Tarkenton, Elway, Young (who also played in the USFL which gets overlooked), Cunningham... to name a few. There were also stationary QBs that didn't have long careers like Aikman and Kelly.

I would imagine that like most QBs, Hurts will have injuries along the way during his career. That's normal and it's the risk you take when you actually play football. As a QB, it doesn't matter if you are running or standing in the pocket, defenders will try until the last second and beyond to hit you. It comes with the territory. Fortunately, Hurts isn't some frail, lanky putz and so far, has proven quite durable.

Most logical post. Joe Borrow lost his entire rookie season due to injury. Tome Brady and Carson Palmer have been injured losing seasons to injuries. Also there have been plenty of athletic quarterbacks (many with some iconic runs like Elway and Young) who have won big games using their arm and their legs. Players get injured in this league. I’ll state at least Hurts for the most part protects himself by throwing the ball away and sliding. Our previous guy didn’t do that stuff nearly enough and took punishing hits for it.

I didn't like how Hurts dealt with it today on some of those runs. Mostly the ones where he turns his back to the defense to try and back himself into another yard. He took some good shots to the back of the head/neck today

He said his hands were cold. I still think he needs things to be perfect (blocking, run game working, elements) or he struggles, but he had some nice throws. Hopefully, the shots didn't hurt him. The hotdogging bothered me in the preseason when he didn't celebrate with his OL who pushed him in, but that seems to have disappeared. He said the right things in his press conf.

This was definitely one of his more physically hit games. He took quite a beating today, but that hasn’t been the norm for him.

I think sometimes we can be over analytical. No quarterback or team is perfect all the time. He wasn’t perfect today especially early yet still did enough to have his in a position to win the game. His team is still the only one loss team out there.

I know, it was just one of the things I saw today that was making me nervous. If anyone swe the bills game last night they would know that Josh Allen is way more wreckless then hurts is.

Allen is a bigger dude though. It’s harder for those big guys to get down fast enough, and he’s used to using his size to run over people. I’ve seen games this year where he’s taken some big shots and looked dinged up. There’s a complete double standard when it comes to Allen though. Maybe it’s because he’s not our quarterback but clearly people simply downplay all his mistakes and flaws while being over critical of Jalen. The same goes for our previous quarterback compared to Jalen. The funny thing is the same guys who completely trashed Jalen all summer with complete ignorant comments are now crying because people called them out on it. Are they coming back to say maybe I was wrong about Jalen and he’s better than I thought he was? Nope they’re back complaining to the mods. Sad.

even for as big as he is it's nuts the shots he continues to take, basically looking for contact. Like the eagles though the coaches realize that their running ability is a huge part of their game and have no plans to take the designed runs out of the playbook anytime soon. So might as well enjoy it because it's fun and it's getting the wins

Yeah and winning is what this team is doing a lot. We have seen all level of quarterbacks get hurt. Pocket passers take a beating too. Other than Eli Manning most of those guys spend time on the sidelines too. Can’t worry about injuries. Besides according to some around here Minshew is better than Hurts anyway right? 😂🤣😂

So I am a little curious. If Hurts does indeed surpass the Eagles passing yards record will the people who gushed all over the previous guy do the same for Hirts or will you guys still downplay how great he’s been? 😂🤣😂
