Hit happened before the penalty so the fumble would have been negated. Refs Fed that up big time

That play probably just put the game out of reach. Chiefs March down and grab another FG before halftime.

I get that. But, when you get near the goal line and you already have a first down sewed up and you are at the 1, you have to protect the ball.  You can't count on the refs to make the right calls in the NFL.

What would have happened on that KC final drive if they declined the offside penalty? Would they have put more time back on the clock given when the penalty was committed?

 

So Mahomes may be in trouble then? Potentially suffered turf toe during that first half? That is potentially HUGE.
