More on general personal morality among fox news executives and on air personalities.

Well, like Vikas said, Tucker isn't waking up tomorrow morning and realizing he should stop lying to the people that pay him to lie to them.  Ideally, it's incumbent on the viewers to realize that when their "news" source is only fear mongering about one side without acknowledging the worst of their own side, they're lying to them, or at the very least lying by omission.  But Tucker's viewers specifically are the dumbest people in the history of mankind, so they're not able to do that.

For them it's as simple as:

 $$$ > lives lost on Jan 6th.

That's pretty sad. The next one will leave more people dead which is even sadder.

That's kind of what I was getting at. They can say whatever they want obviously, I'm just wondering if at any point any ensuing violence is still written off as inconsequential for the sake of ratings.

It's a high bar, and it should be in a society that values free speech. Unless you can show a direct link from Tucker saying something akin to "we should storm the capitol" (which he hasn't done, this is a hypothetical, calm down troll) to an actual event, his speech is protected.

As for the moral arguments, that should come from advertisers refusing to purchase commercial time. That's the proper way for the market to provide feedback.

The market doesn't work particularly well when it comes to news.

Or an executive saying "I don't want to be responsible for this", or really anyone who is involved saying something similar. That's kind of what I was getting at.

I hope to God the FBI is infiltrating terrorists groups still...that's their F'n job. Tucker is making the leap they were behind the storming of the capitol and you're buying the narrative because you have an IQ somewhere around plant life. Anyone with eyes and ears saw President Trump tell his cultists to gather on January 6th and then prompted them to storm the capitol. He even fed them Mike Pence. You always look stupid when you actually try to debate an issue here, but this is definitely a crowning achievement for you. Congrats bro.

OK. So, if there's a significant number of feds who planned and actually carried out the "siege" then what?

I mean, plenty of companies have boycotted shows like Tucker, Hannity, etc. But there are just too many eyeballs, and Fox News gets way too much in subscriber fees from cable systems.

The problem, as always, is the idiot consumers.

Again, we already know the FBI is in the militia groups behind the storming of the capitol. This is not a debatable point. You understand that right?

I mean, those executives have a fiduciary duty to maximize profits for shareholders. So if Tucker does that, they have to keep him on the air. Doing anything else would violate their fiduciary duty to shareholders and get them fired. Fox is a public company, after all.

I'll say it again -- the problem is the viewers. They want this crap, which means cable companies have to carry it, and people will advertise on it. For some reason society always wants to outsource its morality to corporations, but corporations don't have the luxury of having morality.

The lolbertarian wants the government to crack down on free speech. This place is amazing.

Right, which is why the market has a negative effect on the quality of news.  People like to be lied to and they'll pay to be lied to.  There's no way around that.

But I'm not necessarily suggesting an alternative here (though it's hard to argue against the fact that the quality or at least tone of the news was vastly improved under the Fairness Doctrine).

How is it ridiculous? We already know that the FBI is in these groups. How is it insignificant if they were involved in the planning and execution of the "siege."

The fact that you even have to ask... the stupid... it burns....

The FBI also infiltrated the black panther party and the weather underground. Do you want to hold them responsible for all of the terrorist attacks those groups committed? If so please hurry to both the George Floyd thread and the anti white thread to praise the black panthers and blame whitey for their bad rep!!!! Go I say!!!! Goooooo CVON needs you!!!!!!!

I mean, we've always sold commercial advertising during news broadcasts on the major networks. Then cable news took it to the next step with carriage fees to cable systems. But news, despite all the claims from old time news reporters, has always been a business. It's just in a world with so many options, people need to go to the fringes to get eyeballs. Fox starts losing to Newsmax, OAN and the web, and they have to go crazier. CNN goes left and pushes MSNBC even further out there.

Roger Ailes was unquestionably an abhorrent human being, but he was also a genius. As news became more and more left leaning in the 1990s (as the Vietnam era kids became the ones reporting the news), he saw a lane for right-leaning news that would have no competition. Once he did that, the game was on. There's no going back now.

If it is revealed that they were instrumental in the planning and the "attack" itself, how would that be insignificant? Did you really just ask that question? Holy ish.

So is 20 years still too much for Nick Oches (sp?), considering he planned and executed (your words) an attack on the capitol?

Keep holding your breath waiting for it to happen. The proof is probably on Hunter Biden's laptop.

Others may be dumb enough to engage your transparent trolling, but I am not. Leave me out of this or feel free to STFU.

So, no answer. Predictable.
