i worked at a collection agency back in the day that collected commercial accounts for the local utility companies. he owed peco over $8k from his city councilmen's office when he got elected mayor. he used the the office to strong arm peco and our company to cease and desist and never paid a dime.

Wish I could say I was shocked.

This is pretty obvious, but still needed to be posted in here, most likely.

Keep milking that cow, Toast. When someone is actually charged with insurrection be sure and let us know.

Enjoy your blinders. Must be comforting.

I was not aware the new standard was "being charged" - I guess murder is fine, unless you are unlucky enough to be charged.

Keep clutching those pearls tight during your winter of death and despair.

a riot full of trumpers who walked to the capital from a trump rally...wearing trump clothing with trump signs & trump flags...but some guy named epps was the real culprit!

lmfao, if ishlibs truly believe that 1/6 was comparable to Pearl Effing Harbor and 9/11, then it's pretty significant if our own intelligence agencies played a pivotal role in encouraging what transpired that day.

His question was phrases in a way that demanded that answer from the FBI because he specifically included confidential informants. The FBI isn't going to be able to answer that in a public hearing because it's confidential.

If he had just asked about FBI agents they may have been able to answer.

It's all for show so idiots like yourself can parrot the talking points.

Poll: Substantial Number of Americans Want an Autocrat

A new poll by Hill Research Consultants shows that a significant number of Americans want to replace democracy with autocracy and want to put Donald Trump back in power by any means necessary, including armed revolt. However, majorities still support democracy. An article in The Bulwark discusses the poll's results. Five years ago it wasn't necessary to run a poll to determine that a majority of Americans still support democracy but it is nice to know.

The questions are much more extreme than most polls, with some questions "slanted" left and some right. Here are the results. Below are a few of the questions with the agree/disagree numbers for it:

  • Our country desperately needs a strong leader who will do what has to be done to defeat radical efforts to move away from traditional American values (56%/41%)
  • It is important to protect the rights of protesters (75/22)
  • The situation in our country is getting so serious, we need to take steps to eliminate troublemakers & get America back on its true path (64/34)
  • We need more marches & demonstrations to protest how badly minorities are treated in America (42/56)
  • What our country needs instead of more civil rights is a good stiff dose of law & order (54/44)
  • Days of women being expected to be submissive to husbands should be strictly in the past (80/19)
  • Obedience & respect for authority are the most important values children should learn (58/40)
  • You have to admire those who challenge the law & the majority's view by protesting for their causes (58/40)
  • Once our leaders give us the go ahead, it will be the duty of every patriotic citizen to help stomp out the decay that is poisoning our country from within (48/49)
  • It is good that nowadays young people have greater freedom to make their own rules & to protest against things they don't like (58/40)
  • The only way our country can get through the crisis ahead is to get back to traditional values, put a tough leader in power, & silence the troublemakers spreading radical ideas (56/43)
  • Everyone should have their own lifestyle, religious beliefs, & sexual preferences, even if it makes them different from everyone else (86/13)
  • We might have to make America a little less Democratic [sic] in order to protect & preserve the most important American values, traditions & principles (34/64)
  • The 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump (33/64)

There were more questions and some information about the breakdown of the respondents in the file. One immediate conclusion is that a substantial number of Americans would be willing to throw out the Constitution, democracy, and the rule of law and support a strongman would restore American to "traditional values." The poll obviously didn't ask about the bills pending in the U.K. Parliament (previous item), but our best guess is that at least a third of Americans would be quite happy to see such bills become law in the U.S.

The author of the Bulwark article, Tom Hogan, a former lecturer in Holocaust and genocide studies at Santa Clara University and UC Santa Cruz, sees clear parallels between America now and Germany's slide into totalitarianism in the 1930s. Among the correspondences are these.

  • Attacks on the truth: Trump and his allies simply refuse to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the election despite the fact that 60 court cases disputing it were all thrown out, some by judges Trump appointed.

  • Voter suppression: The NSDAPs never won a majority of the popular vote in an election, but once in office, they quickly solidified their power. Even without guidance from Boris Johnson (see above), Republican-controlled legislatures are working to disenfranchise as many of their opponents as they can.

  • Demonization: Every autocrat needs an enemy of the people. For Hitler, it was the Jews, even though they were less than 1% of Germany's population. For Trump it starts with Muslims and Mexicans (even though the latter are nearly all Christians). Then there is the deep state and RINOs.

  • Intimidation: We have seen death threats against public officials and local school boards. All that is needed is the murder of one local official or school board member for the pool of candidates to go dry.

  • Education: The right-wing obsession with school curricula, especially Critical Race Theory, which isn't actually taught in high school, is a clear indication of how they want to control education to breed the next generation of right-wing activists and voters.

Hogan concludes that everyone is asleep at the switch and that something needs to be done, and now, not later.

A substantial number of Americans, appear to be idiots. This is easily confirmed by seeing what TV shows are popular.

Make sure to subtract Islamic folks from that.  Still a large scary number of Neanderthal morons though.

No doubt religion is a huge driver of that number. It's F'ing disgusting regardless of their reasoning.

Agreed. Just saying I don't think most non-Islamic folks under the age of 80 still subscribe to that "subservient wives" mantra. I dunno, that's just what my wife told me to say.

Again, the cause is irrelevant. I don't care which book says what about how women should be treated, it's horrifying that 19 percent of respondents answered in that manner. And pretty sure the vast majority of that 19 number aren't Muslims just judging by representative demographics alone.

Folks like you and me, who maybe hang out with a more moderate group...yeah.  But deep in evangelical land, they're not too far removed from Taliban beliefs:
