Again, the cause is irrelevant. I don't care which book says what about how women should be treated, it's horrifying that 19 percent of respondents answered in that manner. And pretty sure the vast majority of that 19 number aren't Muslims just judging by representative demographics alone.

Oh for sure there are some hardcore Christians in there, along with just older people in general. A lot of the 50's housewives (and their husbands) are still alive.

Some defendants also admitted to stashing guns in a nearby Arlington, Va., hotel for possible use by what they called a "Quick Reaction Force.”

Lock them up and throw away the key.

How many were charged with insurrection again?

Keep milking that cow, Toast. When someone is actually charged with insurrection be sure and let us know.

I woke up shaking this morning realizing it's been a full year since the deadly attack. Still zero insurrection charges and zero terrorism charges. What is taking the DOJ so long? Anyway, stay safe out there today, guys.

@Kz!

Seditious Conspiracy sounds kind of bad.

As long as we can also stop comparing it to the Civil War, Pearl Harbor and 9/11, yes.

Yeah, cause 12 kooks is definitely the same thing as N vs S. This is why people are taking the opposite extreme approach of "it's a conspiracy", "nothing happened at all", "it was all because of Ray Epps."  It's because you and others are taking it to the other extreme.  The truth is somewhere in the middle, like always.

so then you'd say

1- civil war

2- pearl harbor

3- 9/11

where would 1/6 go, #4 ? or are the other events that would still go ahead of it. not trying to dig, actually trying to think about some of the insane events this country has endured and where this would go on that list.

As I said, there's a reason nutbags are taking the other extreme.

I mean there's so many to choose from...LA Riots, Senate Bombing, Oklahoma City, etc, etc etc. That would be an interesting venture for a documentary.

agreed, unfortunately there are many to choose from.

It's a completely different situation that obviously and thankfully had very few deaths compared to any of those.  But the danger to our democracy was far worse on 1/6 than it was during any of those events, save for obviously the Civil War.  This was a coup attempt that was not only encouraged and allowed to happen by the President of the United States, but watched and enjoyed by him.  And remember, this only happened because the peaceful version of this coup (where Pence simply tossed out the results they didn't like) was unsuccessful, despite it being carefully outlined by the Trump administration.

The problem, which is what we all keep harping on, isn't merely that it happened, it's that it will happen again.  If Republicans don't turn on this brand of undemocratic lunacy, these same people are going to foment this until it's successful.  And that's it, there's no going back at that point.  Just like these scumbags that were arrested are finding out, none of this is a game.  It's not just an internet argument.  Once democracy falls, it's over.

As I've said all along I want the guilty punished. Anyone who breached the walls of the Capitol is guilty of something...I just don't agree that all should be charged with terrorism, sedition, insurrection, etc. Anyone who committed violence or like these Oathkeeper scum deserve to be locked up with the key thrown away. But the 62 year old lady wandering the halls with a flag, does she deserve to be sitting in a jail awaiting trial with no bail? I believe there were all different levels of people there that day...scumbag conspiracy nuts, violent opportunists, left wingers hoping to stir the crowd up, etc. Individuals should be charged on the merits of their individual crimes, not as a group.

Why do you think no left-wingers have been arrested for 1/6 yet?

And that right there is why things are the way they are on this issue. Armed robbery? Bail. Illegal border crossing? Flight to the city in the middle of the night. Walking around the Capitol building? A year in solitary with no bail. I'm not talking about people harming cops, or the true troublemakers...those guys deserve everything they get. Sorry you guys don't like to hear it, but a good portion of that crowd WERE just following the crowd and meandering.

Do you mean this nice old lady?

Capitol Meemaw

Where is she? Not in jail awaiting trial. She wasn't even in Washington DC on Jan. 6. This pic was taken in Kansas. LINK

It's pretty simple, just don't break the law and you won't have to concern yourself with being punished "unfairly".
