Among them are former Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien and Sean Dollman, who worked for Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign as chief financial officer, sources familiar with the matter tell CNN. Neither Stepien nor Dollman responded to CNN’s requests for comment.

Dan Scavino, Trump’s former deputy chief of staff, also recently received a subpoena, according to a source familiar with the matter. Scavino did not respond to a request for comment.

In total, more than 30 individuals with connections to Trump have received subpoenas in recent days, according to two sources familiar with the subpoena targets. The subpoenas seek documents and in some cases testimony before a grand jury in Washington, DC.

Trump-appointed judge convicts three Jan. 6 defendants but acquits two of them on obstruction charge

Patrick McCaughey, Tristan Stevens and David Mehaffie were found guilty on most but not all charges. They had appeared for a bench, or nonjury, trial before U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden, a Donald Trump appointee who is the only federal judge in Washington, D.C., who has acquitted a Jan. 6 defendant.

Surprise, surprise, a Trump appointee softening the blow.

Man Seen Crushing Officer With Shield During Capitol Siege Convicted Of 7 Felonies

A Connecticut man who was filmed using a police riot shield to violently pin and crush an officer during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol has been found guilty of seven felonies and two misdemeanors, the Department of Justice said.

Patrick Edward McCaughey III, 25, of Ridgefield was convicted Tuesday of the nine charges related to his participation in the insurrection, which was fueled by then-President Donald Trump’s election loss.

These included assaulting or aiding and abetting in assaulting law enforcement officers, obstruction of an official proceeding and interfering with law enforcement during a civil disorder.

The most serious obstruction charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, reported CBS affiliate WUSA9 in Washington.

Two other men —26-year-old Tristan Chandler Stevens of Pensacola, Florida, and 63-year-old David Mehaffie of Kettering, Ohio — were also convicted by U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden on Tuesday for their own roles in the Capitol attack, with Stevens guilty of nine offenses and MeHaffie of four.

Both men were acquitted of the most serious obstruction charge, which the judge, a 2017 Trump appointee, said prosecutors failed to prove. It was the first time that a judge has acquitted a Jan. 6 defendant of a felony at trial, WUSA reported.

All three men are set to be sentenced in January, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. Upon his conviction, McCaughey was ordered to be taken into custody and held until then.

A Minnesota District Court judge on Monday denied MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell’s motion to throw out a lawsuit brought by a voting technology company that claims he defamed it by pushing the false narrative that the 2020 election was stolen.

Smartmatic, a company that provided election technology and services to Los Angeles in the 2020 election, alleges in the complaint that both Lindell and MyPillow defamed the voting tech company by falsely promoting the theory that its machines had been hacked or rigged in favor of President Joe Biden. Lindell is a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and has falsely maintained since 2020 that Trump won the election over Biden.

Smartmatic also alleges that Lindell, who has advertised promo codes for MyPillow products to viewers and listeners during TV and radio segments where he pushed the false narrative that voting technology was rigged in the 2020 election, used deceptive trade practices.

The complaint is one of a flurry of cases filed after the 2020 election by Smartmatic and Dominion, another voting technology company, against Trump allies and media outlets who have spread false allegations about the companies’ voting systems.

Lindell moved to dismiss Smartmatic’s complaint, arguing that the company failed to adequately plea the defamation claim, and that the deceptive trade practices claim fails because Lindell was acting in a personal, not professional, capacity when making statements about the 2020 election. MyPillow separately moved to dismiss Smartmatic’s complaint, arguing that it is shielded by the First Amendment and that it did not make any statements about Smartmatic. The company also argued that Lindell’s statements can’t be imputed to MyPillow.

U.S. District Judge Wilhelmina Wright on Monday denied both Lindell’s and MyPillow’s motions to dismiss the complaint. The court concluded that Smartmatic has alleged sufficient facts to support its defamation claim, including its claims that Lindell’s statements were false, that his defamatory statements were communicated to outside parties, that he knew or should have known his statements were false and that he acted with actual malice in promoting them.

The court concluded that MyPillow can be vicariously liable for Lindell’s actions, since the CEO intentionally promoted MyPillow while allegedly defaming Smartmatic in the media and during public appearances. The court also maintained that Smartmatic can pursue its claim that Lindell violated the Minnesota Deceptive Trade Practice law, since the company has alleged sufficient evidence to its claim that Lindell’s statements were made in part to promote MyPillow.

Roger Stone lays out plan to invalidate 2020 election in exclusive CNN footage: 'Gonna be really nasty'

On Monday’s Don Lemon Tonight, CNN aired exclusive footage of Roger Stone, longtime Republican operative and confidant to former President Donald Trump, laying out the strategy to invalidate the 2020 election if Trump were to lose. The video was reportedly taken by Stone’s assistant on July 9, 2020, one day before Trump commuted Stone’s prison sentence for lying to Congress. The clip was provided by Danish filmmaker Christoffer Guldbrandsen, who followed Stone off and on for three years while making the documentary A Storm Foretold.

"What they’re assuming is that the election will be normal,” Stone said. "The election will not be normal. ‘Oh, these are the California results? Sorry, we’re not accepting them. We’re challenging them in court. If the electors show up at the electoral college, armed guards will throw them out. I’m the president. F*** you.’”

Though Republicans would go on to put forth a slate of fraudulent electors from several states in a failed attempt to steal the 2020 election, in the video, Stone accused Democrats of scheming to commit election fraud.

"If they want to run a bunch of fake ballots, we’ll have an investigation,” Stone said. "We’ll say, ‘These ballots are fake. Your results are invalidated. Goodbye.’ That’s the way it’s gonna have to work. It’s gonna be really nasty. But you cannot count on — we’re not gonna get an honest election.”

GOP legislatures around the country in states President Biden won actually did investigate the election as Stone said they would, but the investigations did not find any widespread fraud.

Stone, who, according to another video released by Guldbrandsen, would’ve preferred the country skip voting altogether and for it to be enveloped by violence, said at the time that the presidency would be won in the courts. The Trump campaign would go on to attempt exactly that, only to lose dozens of cases, and never proving election fraud.

"Even if he wins an honest election, we’re not gonna have an honest election. They’re gonna steal — they’re stealing us blind in Florida right now,” Stone said. "So, you know, it’s not the first time it’s happened in this country, and it happens around the world. So he’s gonna have to fight for the presidency in the courts. Our next election will be decided in the courts.”

Stone released a statement challenging the accuracy and authenticity of the videos.

One of the few criticisms I have of President Biden is calling them "semi fascists". There is nothing "semi" about this. It's fascism.

"Hallelujah," William Dunfee said after he pushed a metal barricade into officers and headed to the steps of the Capitol. "Mission accomplished!"

Typical Trump supporter. A pastor with no ties to Jesus, stupid enough to wear his company jacket to an insurrection, where he practices his Christian values against the police.

Can we all agree Jan. 6 was insurrection?
