Glad I got you to admit it was an insurrection and those people were terrorists. We made good progress today.

Nah, the attack on the Capitol was infinitely worse. Sorry, that one will stick in history.

Actually more people died as a result of the BLM stuff. More property was destroyed.

What was the purpose of BLM?  To draw attention to police violence against minorities.

What was the purpose of the capitol riots:  To subvert election results, undermine democracy and disrupt the normal peaceful transition of power established by our rule of law.  All at the behest of the President of the U.S.

So no -- not the same thing at all.

More people died during WWII and more property was destroyed.   So?  One has nothing to do with the other.

To draw attention to drug addicts and wife beaters who die because they fight with police?

Sorry bud, facts are facts. 1/6 was historic for all the wrong reasons. I know that stings but it is what it is.

The riots last year were also historic, it just didn’t all happen on one day

Theyll be remembered probably more than the Rodney king riots

So you are only making my point.  Whether you like the BLM movement or believe in its purpose isn't the point.

Probably not. But even so, still not as bad as an insurrection that led to a second impeachment:lol:

Then why did you bring up what the purpose for the riot was?

I love how this thread has turned into "what about BLM?". I hope the terrorists use that as a defense.

Doubtful.  They are on equal footing in terms of memorability

But in terms of actual damage, the BLM riots stand out much more

Politically it is a very good defense.  Legally is a different question

 Whatever you say.

But you don’t question the fact that there was physically more damage caused by BLM

Because the purpose is important in what it is trying to achieve.  Just like the civil rights movement in the 60s was important to give black people access to the same facilities (public buses, restrooms, education) as everyone else.   Yet that movement had violence and people dying as well.   It doesn't mean that those participating in those marches were all terrorists or somehow not legitimate.

On the other hand, the capitol riots had a purpose to undermine our electoral process and the legitimate transfer of power - based on outrageous lies ginned up by the President and his enablers.

I can't help you if you have a a hard time differentiating.   But then again, Trump did say he likes the uneducated.

I just want to make sure when I hear you use the word terrorist, I know what you mean.  Apparently it can mean a very wide range of different people

OMG - you are too thick.  No -- I refuse to educate you further.  Read a book.

I mean, yeah, that's how words generally work.

I mean first you say BLM had a good purpose and then I point out that it didnt

then you say the purpose doesn’t matter and then I ask you why you brought up the purpose in the first place

🙄

Well I’ll keep an eye out in the George Floyd thread to see if you’re using that word in there

Sure. Insurrection still trumps it (see what I did there)

The fact that you almost **** your pants because people broke into a building Trumps the multiple cities burning down and people dying this past summer?
