Some Republicans took issue with the legislation's language, particularly that it referred to the Capitol attackers as "insurrectionists." All of the 12 nay votes to the legislation came from Republican lawmakers. Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida described the bill as "offensive" because of what he described as "editorial comments about the Jan. 6 sequence of events." Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said he disagreed with categorizing the riot as an insurrection, expressing concern that the label could be used by prosecutors.

Massie was an active conspirator in the in crime, so no surprise he's against it. When he says "prosecutors" he's talking about the one's that'll argue his case.

The Capitol attack was insurrection. Those who took part should be treated as such. If these Congressman are going on record supporting insurrection, they should face consequences.

I believe the FBI (and probably now the Justice Dept, with Garland's confirm.) are still investigating the idea of who and how many members of Congress and/or their staff actually assisted the insurrectionists. The findings of that could be significant, huge even... which explains why they are taking so long.

They tried to rush it through, aimed broadly and missed Build your case. Solidly. Then SLAM!

Impeachment was always gonna fail. No way those GOP senators were gonna risk upsetting the goobers. But yes, no need to rush this investigation. This isn't TrumpWorld - we're now free to do things the right way.

Stotts told investigators he was inside the building for about an hour. After he left the Capitol, Stotts posted a picture to his Facebook page with the caption: "Patriots! I got kicked out but I’ll be back!” The picture shows his view looking back at the crowd on the Capitol steps. That Facebook picture, and other posts, ended up being used against him. Investigators say one of Stotts’ former classmates took screenshots and turned them over to the FBI. Agents also found a Facebook post from Stotts a few days after the insurrection, saying that he was apparently a "wanted man” and would be off the grid for a while.
