Are you going to engage in the process of thinking actual thoughts or are you content to make feeble attempts at derailing the discussion

When the military arrests political leaders they’re not doing it in the name of democracy.

FWIW

A discussion to overthrow the rightfully elected officials in the United States of America? No, I will not seriously "engage" in such an asinine discussion.

What discussion would you like to have?  There's not going to be a military coup.  I mean, you're free to fantasize about it, but obviously no one with any credibility within the military is going to even entertain overthrowing the government simply because the guy that doesn't like soldiers that were captured has a case of the sads.

But democracy is absurd anyway so why don’t we try to be a bit more clear with the words you are using

in the absolute sense democracy means that every bill up for debate gets a referendum by all 300 million Americans

is that what you mean by democracy?

It’s not just about Trump.  We’re obviously not ready for a coup literally today, but it’s pretty clear the Supreme Court isn’t free to exercise its authority without threats that cause you to doubt their independence

for starters

No, in a democracy the people have a voice.  In a dictatorship they don’t.  This is basic stuff that most kids learn in elementary school.

Yes it is.  I mean, it's also about crying and sadness and endlessly wondering how boat parades don't equal votes but mainly it's about Trump.

Riiiiiggghhht. You people need to get it together and regroup. You're going down such a dangerous path.

Sure it is. Some of you idiots can't let it go, he lost. Joe Biden is your president and Trump is going to continue to be just some fat guy that lives in Florida. None of your idiotic fantasies about coups are going to change that.

So you do or you don’t mean that all 300 million people should vote on every piece of legislation?

When FDR said the U.S. must be "the great arsenal of democracy” what he really was saying was that the U.S. needed to stand up to fascists and authoritarian strongmen.  People like Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, and even Stalin (who was an ally in WWII due to convenience).

And ACB is your 9th Supreme Court justice 🙄

Yeah, no sheet she is.  And no one in here is interested in violently overthrowing the government to get rid of her.

Yet FDR was such a strong man himself that we changed the constitution to prevent someone like him having that many terms

And we all accept that and aren't saying we'd be "ok with a coup" (well, not all of us apparently)

We have a representative democracy in this country.  Which means we elect people who vote on the legislation for us.  l’m assuming you weren’t raised in the U.S.

No you just like whipping up the mob to throw decapitated pigs heads to intimidate them into ruling how you like

Now we’re talking.

So obviously there’s rules about who you get to vote for.  A person from Maine doesn’t get a vote in who represents New Hampshire

These rules ultimately are established by bloodshed, because the constitution was not implemented through democratic means

Good point.  I do enjoy that.

Sure it was.  The representatives to the Constitutional convention were elected.

You guys really overplay certain things, like using Trump as a rhetorical club to beat people into accepting your way of seeing things

Our way of seeing things? Like not overthrowing the government?
