Brian Westbrook Lobbying for Position on Coaching Staff

Yeah. Westbrook wasn’t the most durable guy, but he was one of our most well rounded backs in recent memory. Excellent RB, great receiver, and good blocker.

Plus, he was a good punt returner too when needed. Now obviously, none of this ensures he’ll be a great coach, just like BDawk is not certain to be a great coach, (if he ever chooses that path), but both seem like the type I’d be willing to allow to work their way up if they decide coaching is in their future.

Well arguing over if someone can be a good coach or not is silly. We don't know until they have a body of work.

Old number 36 is interested in joining Sirianni’s coaching staff (presumably to fill the hole left upon Staley’s departure as RB coach).

BWest was one of the most intelligent players at RB for the Eagles.  He'd be a welcome addition to the staff, and likely an upgrade over Staley.

Westbrook was injured easily, but that’s a characteristic of durability, not his personality. It isn’t like making Westbrook a coach makes players easily injured.

I wasn't speaking about injuries/durability, I was referring to his running style, Wussbrook did everything possible to avoid contact, think about it, how many times did you see the  Wuss fight for extra yardage to get a crucial 1st down.

Here's a scenario that I saw many times with the Wuss, it's a 3rd and short, the handoff goes to the Wuss, who had excellent vision, he sees a hole and knows he can get the first down but he also sees right about at the first down mark he's gonna get popped by a LB/S that covering that hole.

What does the Wuss do, he says," nah, that's alright, let me act like I don't see that hole and run into this gang of olinemen, that way I don't get popped, we don't get the first down but, oh well".

You don't want a Wuss coaching your RBs, that position calls your toughest SOBs on the team, that's why they're often injured. And I don't want to hear anything about being small, the only thing small about Wussbrook was his heart.

Westbrook probably won’t get the job because he has been critical of Lurie, Roseman, and the organization on national TV.

Yeah, Bill Belichick was one of the toughest players I’ve ever seen in the NFL... I can see why his toughness made him such a great coach.

Damn man, what did Westy move your lawn chair and steal your parking spot after you shoveled it out?

Here's the story, no doubt he was a wuss, it's AR's fault for making him a feature back, he should have left him as a "change of pace back".

The perfect example of him wussing it up was a close game where I believe the Eagles were behind 6 points late in the 4th, maybe under 1 minute.  Handoff goes to Wussbrook and there's daylight, he's running down the left sideline and it looks like he's gonna score, what does the wuss do, he runs out of bounds at the 2, mind you, he could have easily lowered a shoulder and got the score.

Alright, 1st a goal from the 2, the Eagles didn't get in and they lose the game behind of the wuss being afraid to take a hit.......DO NOT WANT!!

Usually players who were not very good make the better coach.  What is Tony Hunt up to ??

Guys, guys.  Y'all are missing the most obvious choice.  You want a fan favorite, but going on the theory that if the player was too good they aren't a good coach?

Nasty Nate himself:  Nate Ilaoa!  He can personally hand out the Nasty Nate aware each training camp.

Perfect pick. He follows the "those who can't do, teach" ideology and likely nets us a couple of sixth round picks in the Hire A Minority Draft Pick Blowout Bonanza!

Andy Reid running the ball in the 4th quarter with less then a minute down by 6 is the most shocking part of this story.

Don't remember the game, just the play, it was a long run by Wussbrook and he stepped out inside the 5.

Hmmm, something like that that has your underwear in a twist, you’d think the game would be a bit more memorable.

Only game I can think of that is anywhere close to what  happened, was when westbrook broke free and laid down at the 1 to help ice a game. Id have to open my eyes to fully understand it

I remember that - it was the game against Dallas in 2007.  I don't think that is the game VA is referencing - seems he is referring to a game where Westbrook should have scored and went OOB to avoid a hit.
