I've head that those who earn graduate degrees in India though, often don't have their degrees recognized by American companies. Is that true in your experience? My boss just hired an Indian women with an MBA as her secretary, so I was curious.

Depends on the field. In the life sciences you generally want to see US graduate degrees or at least postdocs

Wait, wasn't this a debate in here a couple of days ago?

Except that is the NY Post paraphrasing the union head with a partial quote.

Persons abroad can apply for asylum. They still pay their way.

That's how the system works.

It made sense when everyone coming was elite and/or highly motivated.

That has been turned on its head and we’ve become the dumping ground for the worst of the world.

We already have the worst, you, Trump supporters, Boebert, Greene & Gaetz.

This is a common problem in both shipping and air traffic. Essentially their standards and competency are lower and they also work more hours, which compounds all safety issues because of fatigue.

But please, pretend like you have a clue.

As if you have a clue of anything that happens outside of your mom’s basement. Please tell of your experience with ATC and shipping.

lol a sheetlib judge let them go. Just like the founders intended. But remember, both sides are equally to blame.

They were held for 10 days with no charges. They went before the judge and the DA did not have indictments ready to go for them.

Under Texas law they're to be released.

None who have immigration holds will be released however, and the defense attorney requested they be moved to ICE detainment rather than being released.

Reminder: judges are not there to prosecute. They are not representatives of the government OR the people. They're there to interpret the law and hold the state accountable to its duties, because the Constitution goes out of its way to protect citizens from an overzealous trial system.

If you don't like it you can GTFO of the country.

Is the Biden administration secretly flying migrants into the country?
That claim has been circulating in right-wing media, amplified by the likes of Musk on X. In a March 5 speech, Trump, the expected Republican nominee for president, said: "They flew 325,000 migrants, flew them in over the borders and into our country.”

The claims are referring to the parole program set up for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans. Under that program, up to 30,000 people a month can enter the U.S. legally so long as they have a U.S.-based financial sponsor to take them in and pass a background check. These people enter the country with a two-year grant of humanitarian parole, meaning they can live and work legally, with many expected to apply for asylum during that time.

The Biden administration isn’t secretly flying them in. Applicants are responsible for the cost of their own airfare. The government also publishes monthly data listing how many people of each nationality entered the country and at which airports.

The people that come in via the parole system have sponsors in the US for their arrival, they live with them, & they pass background checks.

What also is ignored by the right wing twitters is that this parole program was creating in conjunction with an agreement with Mexico that allows us to expel persons trying to enter from that country who would otherwise qualify under this parole system: https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/biden-administration’s-humanitarian-parole-program-cubans-haitians-nicaraguans-and

Quote

The creation of this new parole program, however, was coupled with restricted access to asylum at the U.S./Mexico border for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Starting in January 2023, the government of Mexico agreed to allow the U.S. to expel up to 30,000 migrants from those countries to Mexico each month—preventing them from requesting asylum under U.S. immigration law. With the expiration of the Title 42 order in May 2023, the U.S. announced that it would formally deport some migrants from these countries to Mexico instead of to their home countries.

The above are the actual facts of the program. You can go ahead and still disagree with them, but the design here is to stop migrants from crossing through Mexico from these countries, and to instead have a way for those who have financial sponsors in the US, who can pass a background check, and who can pay their way to come by plane.
