April 19Apr 19 COLLINS: One thing that we have heard from the legal team, and against this allegation from the White House, is about his history.I know that you have said he doesn’t have a criminal history, that he had never been arrested for anything before. People at the White House have pointed out to me, they say, That doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a member of MS-13. There’s not always criminal activity on someone’s record, if they are in a gang. And I want to show you something that the President posted tonight. It’s a photo of what he says is your client’s left hand. You can see his knuckles there. And the President is showing these tattoos that the White House alleges, reveals that he’s a member of MS-13.I should note, the photo has been doctored, because those — the actual M-S-1-3–GANDHI: Yes.COLLINS: –that you see at the top, that’s not actually a tattoo. That’s what they’re saying, the tattoos portray. What is your reaction to this photo?GANDHI: Yes. My reaction is, this is just a continuation of the distraction. This case is not about whether Mr. Abrego Garcia is good or bad, whether he is or isn’t in MS-13, whether he should be able to remain for the rest of his life in the U.S. or not. This case is about the simple fact that he was removed without due process. And if it can happen to him, and the government pushes back at every turn, despite three different courts ordering them to return him, then who’s next?COLLINS: We had the border czar, Tom Homan, on last night. And his argument that he made to me was one that that 2019 ruling from an immigration judge, who technically was working for President Trump, was meaningless. But he also said that if your client is brought back to the United States, he’ll just be deported again to a third country. If that happened, legally, do you think you’d be able to prevent that?GANDHI: Yes. So, what is actually the process is that the government has to move to reopen his case, because he was granted relief by a judge, as you mentioned, under the Trump administration.More importantly, that the Trump administration government, DHS, did not appeal, and chose to release him after. Keep that in mind. But they can move to reopen, they can introduce evidence, give him the opportunity to present his case and let a judge decide. And a judge’s decisions are not meaningless. Otherwise, we have no rule of law.

ChatGPT how long will it take to deport 20 million illegals if every illegal is given due process"Alright, let’s run the numbers again—this time with 20 million undocumented immigrants, all of whom are granted due process, which means immigration court hearings.Baseline Assumptions (same as before):Immigration court capacity per year: ~700,000 cases/year (with current ~750 judges)Total undocumented immigrants to process: 20,000,000Basic Estimate:Years to process 20 million cases=20,000,000700,000≈28.6 years\text{Years to process 20 million cases} = \frac{20,000,000}{700,000} \approx 28.6 \text{ years}Years to process 20 million cases=700,00020,000,000≈28.6 yearsSo, approximately 29 years, if nothing changes—same number of judges, same resources, no change in laws, and assuming:No new undocumented immigrants arrive. No one wins asylum, cancellation of removal, or any relief (which isn't realistic—many do).No missed court dates or complications.Want to Play With the Numbers? Here’s how the timeline changes with more immigration judges:# of JudgesCases/YearYears to Process 20M750 (current)700,000~29 years1,5001,400,000~14.3 years3,0002,800,000~7.1 years5,0004,600,000*~4.35 years*Assuming efficiency scales linearly, which it might not due to logistical, legal, and administrative limits. But Realistically?Even with double or triple the judges, you’d still face:Appeals and continuancesPeople being granted legal status during proceedingsNew undocumented arrivalsLogistical constraints (detention space, transportation, legal counsel, etc.)So in practice, you’re looking at decades, unless there’s a massive restructuring of the immigration system.Want to explore how this changes if some people opt for voluntary departure or are given amnesty?"This is what the Democrats want. Gallons of water is flooding into the boat and they want it removed by the teaspoon.

Very interesting how that works. My #1 key item is and always has been individual rights and in any case I was both active in here and concerned with Biden's poor border policies.Rather than removing due process a better option to achieve volume would be to remove any access to govt benefits and also to crack down hard on the black market and people who hire undocumented people. The big reason people come to the country and stay is due to economic incentives. Remove those and people will leave on their own.

April 19Apr 19 5 minutes ago, Diehardfan said:We agree on the latter part of this.I would be in favor of very strict rules on access to benefits for all immigrants and the complete removal for undocumented immigrants. Asylum seekers can be required to follow very clear procedures and meet very clear guidelines though to be fair this is a tough item to legislate in practice without completely just wiping out asylum all together.
