Perhaps they should call the border states and see how they do it. They called Abbott and DeSantis, who told them the solution is to just bus and plane them all out to other destinations. Curious plans if they have political aspirations, to take their problems and ship it off to somebody else.... At least it seems Massachusetts can meet their needs and figure it out. LINK Quote "We are meeting their needs for food, shelter, and we are definitely supplying them with a lot of love,” said Lisa Belcastro, the manager of the only homeless shelter on the island. "They need to be off island. Their immigration appointments are not here.” On Thursday, Mr. Nazareth expressed gratitude for the warm reception that he and his brethren had received in Martha’s Vineyard. "They’re treating us super well,” he said. "We’re getting food, clothing, all our needs met. I love Massachusetts!” His plan: "I want to start working as soon as possible.” Immigrants were not getting anything from Florida. DeSantis has no clue how to lead.

September 16, 20223 yr Fix the border. Implement proper immigrant procedures to get families and individuals into the country LEGALLY and this becomes a nonexistent issue. Instead we’re watching republicans exacerbate the problem in petty manners, while liberals pretend to be okay with the ever present immediate problems and consequences that come with having virtually no border security. For the record - if you think it’s racist or xenophobic to have proper border policy enforced for a modern nation, you’re a complete and utter moron.

Obviously the simple solution of "build a big wall" doesn't do anything. I think we need to get tougher with the countries where these people are coming from. Withholding foreign aid would be a good start.

Actually, some of us believe the border is not the problem. It is allowing companies to hire illegals without realistic consequences that cost more than hiring legals. That will solve the problem. I love how you supposed patriots always demean our armed forces and border patrol, as if they are incompetent and unfunded. Where do most illegals cross? Legal checkpoints. Where do most illegal drugs cross? Legal checkpoints. You have invented an imaginary crisis and pretend the only way to stop people is a wall. Idiots pretend you can seal the border. Idiots who apparently, have no idea how big it is, or how much that would cost.

They all give the same reason for crossing into United States; they want jobs. There is so much work in this country for migrant workers: picking crops, packaging stuff, handyman/construction, housekeeping, nanny/au pair, etc. The visa system provides a legal pathway, but it is so controlled it doesn't support the demand for workers, nor does it support the amount of workers willing to come here. So people come here illegally. Our economy supports it. So we can shore up the border, but it's not going to solve the problem of demand.

The idea that "Implement proper immigrant procedures" will do anything is a crock. There are two options; Berlin wall. Constantly guarded and monitored, above and below ground. This is insanely expensive to do. Or PUNISH THOSE WHO HIRE ILLEGALS AND HURT THEM FINANCIALLY TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS CHEAPER TO HIRE LEGALS. This is also cost-effective. Nothing in this situation will ever change until this door is closed.

On top of cracking down HARD on employers that use illegal immigrants, we need to stop the insanity of providing government benefit and resources to illegals. Why are we giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants? Welfare? Anything. Remove all incentive for people to come here illegal -- no jobs, no government benefits. 7 minutes ago, DaEagles4Life said: Or ending this failure that is the war on drugs. September 16, 20223 yr In a perfect world, here's the 4 part plan to end illegal immigration. 1. Massively increase penalties for those that employ illegal immigrants -- make the monetary penalties significant, and ramp up enforcement. Put the onus on the employer to properly verify immigration status. Now, I know people will complain that this will impact legal Latino immigrants -- employers may stay away from them fearing the risk. Maybe a compromise is to make sure that employers all complete the e-Verify process, and doing so absolves the employer unless they knowingly defraud the system. But make the risk associated with hiring illegals massively larger than the potential benefit. 2. Terminate all government benefits and services for illegal immigrants -- No driver's licenses. No food stamps. No welfare. It doesn't help that morons want to try and let them vote in local elections. Make them leave in the shadows and in fear -- they are here ILLEGALLY. 3. End the drug war already -- People are leaving countries that have been turned over to narcotic producers and gangs. Stop fighting a war we have been losing for over 50 years and legalize recreational use of drugs. Legitimize the business and annihilate the power of those criminals in countries in Latin America. 4. Stop subsidizing able bodied Legal US Residents -- terminate all transfer payment programs for those of working age. Employers will find plenty of workers willing to take the hard jobs if we remove the option to survive simply off government largesse. None of this will ever happen of course.

People seem to think the problem is people coming across the wilderness. They come in truck loads across legal checkpoints, like the drugs. None of the things people have been talking about to fix the issue addresses this fact, or the fact that if the jobs were not there, they would not come.

You could read what you post, nincompoop. The guard will be assisting in this sort of thing. The hysteria, is the pathetic right wing dewshberries, like DeSeantis, who probably broke laws flying illegals around the USA. The people of Martha's Vineyard, stepped up and are being cool. That A-HOLES sent immigrants to an ISLAND that can't support them, is the story, but you don't like that, so you make one up.
