"Moderately sized town in Illinois makes decision that enrages mentality deficient, terrorist sympathizing Trump supporter into starting a thread about it on a terrible football team's message board."

There, fixed it.

And Trump did it.

We're all getting older and can't reasonably be expected to bring that same energy every day.

Conroe, TX doesn’t get enough love.

Yeah, but it doesn't mean we still can't have fun

I think it’s so cute how the people in this "debate” are being supported by the ones who slob their knobs!

Small towns never do.

Take Evanston, IL for example.

Agreed.  I also sometimes forget that Northwestern is in the Big 10

If the line is drawn between KKKz and mayan, know that I'll glady "slob the knob" of the guy who doesn't sympathize with domestic terrorists and doesn't defend and vote for a moronic failure for president.

I read your post, spent about 5 more minutes sniping back and forth with @paco completely not getting it, walked to the fridge to grab some water, and it finally hit me.

$10m over 10 years

If that amount was divided up between 1000 people it would be $10k/person.  There are about 13k African Americans living in town today.  If it went to each of those equally it would be about $735 per person.  No way the current African American population of Evanston will feel like a debt has been paid if each of them get a $735 reparation.  If 100 people get $100k each then you'll get 100 happy people and a bunch of others that aren't happy.  Given the current framework many of the benefactors aren't even going to be in Evanston.

This is going to fail miserably.

If you’re thinking the point of reparations is only to benefit people who live there currently you don’t really understand what reparations are...

Of course not.  It was an example.

Are you thinking the people that live there now don't care?  If you think that then you really don't understand much about anything.

Quote

Meanwhile, Sebastian Nalls, a college student who unsuccessfully ran for Evanston mayor, told The New York Times that "Giving $400,000 to 16 Black people in a town of 12,000 Black residents is not reparation.”

The columnist Dahleen Glantondescribed the resolution in the Chicago Tribune as "mostly a symbolic gesture with little of the substance the reparations movement hoped for," adding that "African Americans won’t get a dime in their pockets."

"It will have little, if any, impact on the lives of the other approximately 12,000 Black Evanston residents," Glanton's column reads. "It probably won’t even make a dent in addressing the economic disparities resulting from decades of neglect."

From an NBC website article.

Remember who told you we'd be hearing a lot about reparations in the coming years. Gotta say, I wish in this instance I could miss, but it just doesn't happen. This is just the beginning.

Much like the SCOTUS legislation, this is going nowhere.

Right, I don't expect anything imminent. I'm just letting you know, over the next several years, this is going to be in the news a lot.

You pulled a zuker and didn't read the story you posted. This establishes a committee to look into the issue. There's literally nothing new here.

I feel like the rest of CVON should get reparations for having to scroll past Kmart Kz's brain damaged posts.
