Any sane Republican wins easily in 2024, and somehow the cult of imbeciles is going with the one moron that is almost guaranteed to lose. It's like Republicans saw Democrats blowing elections for decades and got jealous. Decided to take it up a notch.

'If' by Rudyard Kipling:

Quote

The poem's speaker advises his son to live with restraint, moderation, and composure. The son should always keep his wits about him, the speaker says, never overreacting; he should learn to be confident without being vain, accept hardships without dwelling on them, and behave with dignity.

Look Trump has proof the election was rigged. Can't wait for the news confrence of lies.

it's like they watched the dems shoot themselves in the foot with a .22 for years and decided to show the country how real alphas do it by using a .50 caliber.

Yep, it's been 7 years of political seppuku.

Oh you're gonna nominate Hillary Clinton? Fine, we'll nominate Donald Trump.

Oh you elected AOC and Ilhan Omar? Cool, here's Boebert and MTG.

Oh you're gonna cry about Russian election interference? Hah, we'll literally incite a riot and threaten the life of our own VP!

Funny thing is, if the Republican Party turned its back on Trump tomorrow and a sane candidate stepped forward (not DeSantis), it would probably convince Democrats to tell Biden not to run because he won't get the party nomination -- and you could have two sane (somewhat decent) candidates to choose from.

Not gonna happen on either front.

Yep.  Despite everything, they actually have a path to the Presidency, except they don't want it.  It's the political performance art version of this:

I'll keep coming back to this -- Donald Trump isn't the worst actor in this story. There's a reason we don't prosecute the criminally insane and mentally incompetent -- they are incapable of understanding the consequences of their actions. Donald Trump is clearly mentally incompetent and suffering from dementia. It's like trying to prosecute Grandpa Simpson at this point.

The true scum are the GOP officials who keep humoring this toddler. People like McCarthy, Cruz, McDaniel, Hawley, etc. They are smart enough to know better, but they refuse to throw this idiot overboard. They will be the ones judged most harshly by history. It's compounded because they allow other mentally challenged idiots (Giuliani, Powell, etc.) to influence the idiot in chief.

If I were advising DeSantis or Scott, that would be my line of attack. I'd "defend" Trump by saying a great nation doesn't prosecute the mentally challenged.

Yeah… it’s almost like they’re completely brainwashed by right wing media and regurgitate exactly what they’re told to.

If you think that would turn the GOP base off of Trump, you haven't been paying attention.

Nothing will break the cult at this point. But this would enrage Trump, get him to fly off the handle, push his blood pressure up, lead to binge KFC eating...

You see where I'm going here?

Use his own logic against him "why didn't he present this 2.5 years ago?"

In all seriousness, these candidates need to call him a moron constantly. Goad him into engaging, coming to the debate, etc. The only way to beat him at this point is to force him into a fight about his competency. He's so remarkably stupid, there's a good chance he hurts his image by engaging in a debate over whether he is mentally challenged. I don't care how strong your cult is, if you are debating whether or not you are mentally incompetent, you're losing.

That's what I've been saying. Insult his intelligence non stop and keep saying he won't debate because he can't keep up. When he tries to fire back, be dismissive of him and treat him like an irrelevant afterthought to his face. Everyone running should do it.
