Assuming he never sold and basing it off the current share price of $17, that's an 80% drop. But you're right, it was a market order with a designated number of shares, so number of acquired shares would've been same but total cost would've been half, so not wiping out 80% of his life savings but 80% of his investment. As for the limit order executing, depends on the expiration. Looking at the chart, it dropped to $70 a week later so a gtc expiration would've definitely executed within a couple days.
