April 22, 20241 yr The weak attempts to humanize him fit in better on an SNL skit rather than a courtroom.
April 22, 20241 yr I mean there is no doubt that the commentators on Fox are ignorant morons, but the whole "precedent" thing is hilarious. John Edwards did the same thing and was indicted by a grand jury as well. These charges are not unique to Trump. Edwards was only a candidate for president, and not a former president, but it's still a precedent. Edwards got off (but should have been found guilty). Trump will probably get out of this one too.

The biggest difference is Edwards was found not guilty of FEDERAL campaign finance laws. Trump is being tried on STATE charges of falsifying business records. Even if Trump is found guilty, the punishment is typically probation.

The charges are a good bit more complex and serious than just the falsifying of business records.

He killed tens of thousands by willfully downplaying COVID, hindering distribution of the vaccine, and constantly spouting nonsense in opposition to the best medical experts. I'd say holding him accountable for his record would be a fine example. Someday, someone will have to do a deep dive into the absurd number of deaths in the US. Having said that, gun deaths pretty much let slide every year, so .....
April 22, 20241 yr He’s not on trial for his policies. He’s on trial for breaking the law before he was even president.

April 23, 20241 yr Dude has no principles and just goes with whatever benefits him. Trump Blames Wrong Person for Trying to Cause TikTok’s Downfall The former president suddenly seems to have amnesia about his previous stance on TikTok. Either Trump’s memory is suspect, or he’s trying to pull a fast one on the public. He attempted to ban the popular video-sharing app in an executive order back in 2020, ostensibly to protect Americans’ data from the Chinese government. The ban was later shot down in court. Since then, two possible explanations for Trump’s dramatic shift in position have emerged. One of Trump’s allies, former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, revealed plans to purchase TikTok. And billionaire Jeff Yass, a powerful backer of Trump’s reelection campaign, reportedly owns a 15 percent stake in TikTok worth billions of dollars.

That's why they keep propping him up.
