For what it's worth, WalterFootball.com (yeah I know not the best site out there) previously mentioned that their inside sources (usually co-contributor Charlie Campbell or one of his scout connections, which to their credit have been spot on in the past in picking up on certain players sliding or going earlier than the media project) expect Slater to fall out of the top 10. Slater would at least give us a big upgrade at guard right away and doubles as insurance at LT should something go wrong with the Mailata/Dillard competition or if injury were to occur. At the very least, if he turns out to be an elite guard, he'd be a very solid selection. If he turns out to be the franchise LT of the future, he could be an amazing pick. I don't think WFT regrets taking Brandon Scherff at 5th overall in 2015. Realistically, I think the Giants take Slater at 11; it makes a lot of sense for them since they aren't sold on Will Hernandez and already signed Kenny Golladay to a big contract to be the WR1. My bigger concern is going Paye or Farley over either Surtain/Horn, or the TATERgeddon scenario (which I would be very surprised if it actually happened, despite it being Howie we're talking about). Good God this would be a nightmare...

April 30, 20214 yr Why is that little Napoleon Complex person still running the show. Looks like another "stiff” draft. Could have somehow gotten Lamb last year and chase this year. But he just wants to be mr know it all What a clown as is the person who keeps him in this position

You can't force teams to trade down. It's not Madden.
April 30, 20214 yr Chase went to Bengals at #5. Pitts off the board too. Using #6 pick to get those extra picks next year looks like the better choice.

Most of these 4 are reasonable value around 12 and wouldn't be seen as reaches. There will be grumblings still of we should at stayed at 6, Waddle is too injury prone, Smith, too small etc, but generally the board will be a positive place.

If there's something between contentment and euphoria, I'd pick that. In the context of the original trade and acquiring additional draft capital for next year, this was an excellent move. Smith could have easily gone as high as 6 to us without our trade down.

Suddenly Reagor doesn't have to be THE guy on offense. In fact, it takes the pressure off of all the WRs. Defenses will have to respect Smith's elite route running and mismatches will present themselves. If, and that's a big if, the OL can stay healthy, the offense should hold their end of the bargain. The defense however frightens me. Let tomorrow night be the beginning of fixing that abomination.

Yeah this offense could be really good. If the OL can stay healthy, Hurts can be decent and Sirianni can be a good offensive play caller it could come together nicely. But that defense is terrifying. They need to go defense heavy now.

Good news is that we still have our early 2nd and 3rd round picks to work with and a lot of talent still on the board on defense. We could easily double dip in the secondary with 2 CBs or a CB and S combo with how deep the position is this year. Some good LB prospects are still available too, JOK, Nick Bolton, and Jabril Cox still on the board. Let's keep this momentum rolling!!

April 30, 20214 yr looking back today, I say Howie did very well. Ge got the best of who was there at a position of need and moving around got the Eagles an extra 1st rounder next year. Yes, he did very well. Now the next two rounds are important ,especially with the huge wait (53 picks) between 3rd and 4th round picks.

We came into this draft with 11 picks, now 10, and I doubt we see Howie use all 10 picks to select players.
