April 21, 20214 yr Sounds good to me. People like Michael Jordan would get competitive over rolling dice for dollars with the security guards. Or if someone even passively predicted the Bulls would lose a playoff series. I'd take as many players with that attitude I could get.

I'll bet with the rock, paper, scissors method that Metcalf and Jefferson would be Eagles today, Marcus Smith would have been taken in the 5th round where everyone else had him, and Danny Watkins would have been undrafted.
April 22, 20214 yr Nick got this idea from his brother who coaches HS football. They love talkin ball and playing rock-paper-scissors. He's very excited!

April 22, 20214 yr We all joke but I’m not going to lie I’m becoming a fan of Sirianni. Think he’s a funny and cool dude, can’t wait to see his coaching ability.
April 22, 20214 yr I like Hey Siri. He loves the game, is excited about it and the team. He oozes excitement and energy- something this city needs right now, because last year was just morbid walking dead everywhere. This guy is is like a little kid in a candy store, and I am really pulling for him in the tough situation he came into.

Everything up to this point that we've seen of him is rather unimportant for the most part. To me, the important part of that rock, paper, scissors thing is that he's trying to get inside the kids' heads without being able to be up close and personal with them. It's not a bad strategy and you absolutely want guys who want to compete more than guys that are merely talented but couldn't give two craps. I'd give this an 'A' for Effort. We'll see if it matters. But, in the end, all the really will matter is how he communicates with players, not the media and fans. And how the players are able to perform between the lines. He has a track record over the last three years of pretty good success with very different QBs (granted, with Reich, which makes one wonder how much was Reich and how much was him). Time will tell, but judging anything based on press conferences is pretty weak.
April 22, 20214 yr Why can't you be normal? Eagles coaches: Fast Food Friday Custom Smoothies Let's get some ice cream Rock paper scissors

April 22, 20214 yr Just watched the PC....I dont see anything wrong with Sirianni. He stutters a little sometimes but he seems very passionate about football. I've heard nothing but positive things about him from players and coaches he's worked with.

April 22, 20214 yr The comment in itself isn't an issue or I don't think it is. Teams get creative, teams do all sorts to see how these players respond. Sirianni seems like a great guy. He seems like a real personable and likeable guy. But my god he's exhausting. I mean that in a nice way but he's too much at times.
April 22, 20214 yr I like the idea but feel he'd get better results doing something else to find if they're competitive or not
April 22, 20214 yr I enjoyed that and he's right a competitive guy will go hard at the simplest and stupidest stuff just to win. That is the point he is making. If they get all fired up over a game of rock paper scissors, how fired up are they going to get to win a game of football? Some of you are complaining about the simplicity or how stupid that game is. That's the effing point!
April 22, 20214 yr To be fair, this is just one small aspect of the process they threw in. In context they were talking about how to manage evaluating players when they're not allowed to meet in person, didn't have the combine or interviews in person. So they went to the Senior Bowl and met all the players whereas they would normally meet with select ones. At the combine they have limited time with each player, but in this virtual method they could have longer sessions. Nick said that anytime you have a virtual meeting people tend to not pay attention the entire time (anyone who is on work conference calls knows this). So these games were something fun to add something interactive to the process over zoom, and as a bonus it was a way to see how competitive they are. Not like it was the sole criteria or something. But it's still a funny thing to hear thrown out there and going to get some poking fun.

They cut rocks like butter. They're a Marvel
