I see CB, DE and maybe TE for next year. But not LB, we don't do it. And I'm glad we don't.

Edge is a today term that means DE in 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4. It's been the standard term for a couple years now so people wouldn't confuse LBs with pass rush specialists.

Aren't they moving Avery to LB as well?

Most of the time there are only 1 or 2 linebackers on the field. It's not the same game that needed 3 lbrs and guys like Trotter running full speed towards the hole he thought the RB was heading for. I think Singleton and Edwards can be starters with the guy they got from Minnesota. I would be interested to see what Avery brings to the position and hopefully Bradley and Taylor have improved enough to push for a starting spot.

I'm old and can't even remember when edge wasn't listed for a de, olb prospect.

Late 90's was when I think that term started being used? I dont think this has anything to do with age. 

I can accept that the NFL is basically flag football compared to what it was when I was 20 years old.

Other than Singleton we need an every down LB ...and we do not have him on the roster. Every guy on your list other than Singleton is a package player or a backup.

Taylor looks like a bust...unless he proves everyone wrong next year. He was supposed to be the answer, but instead we had to bring Wilson to fill the position. Don't hold your breath on Taylor..

He was not meant to be a savior. It was pretty clear he was going to be a 1-2 year project when he was taken. Not saying I like it, but can’t change it. I want to see him contributing this year and I think he will. He’s a freak athlete.

I truly expected next to nothing from him last year outside of ST. This year I’m expecting to see some snaps at LB.

Also, not directed at you, I just happened to see your post when I was about to say this. But people need to stop whining about position in the late rounds of the draft. At that point there are so few guys who are likely to contribute on an NFL team, you’ll be lucky to get one at any position.

Trendy. Edge is simply DE. DE is what the position actually is. There is no reason to call a DE an "edge."

Edge isn’t simply DE. It’s used to describe guys who can either play DE in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4.
