And this is the elephant in the room. Political leaders make decisions. Medical experts provide medical knowledge based input.

Of course in the US we have Trump who is only concerned with his popularity numbers and doesn’t care about anything else.  Quite the conundrum.

I saw this come across my Twitter feed.  At first I thought Fauci had some way advised people not to go to church and then refused to tell people to limit protesting.  After watching the entire interview, he never said anything of the sort.

He repeatedly said, "Going to large gatherings, especially not wearing a mask, could likely contribute in the spread".  He stated that it wasn't his job to tell the government what they should tell the population to do.  (In terms of laws, etc) His job was to state the potential risks associated with people's actions.

People in the remarks section are acting like Fauci betrayed Republicans, etc because he wouldn't directly state that the government should limit protests. (Because that is not his job).

Although he REPEATEDLY stated that going to large gatherings could promote the spread.  Are they seriously criticizing him?

What part of "going to large gatherings could promote the spread." do people not understand?

I feel like we're splitting hairs here. Actively encouraging people to attend them and even setting the example by showing up in person at a lot of these events, I mean, there's no telling how many people have caught and spread these viruses after two months of protesting. With the lack of leadership in the White House, we need democrats to step up and lead by example, not just when it's convenient for them. Unfortunately they've failed to adhere to what they've asked of the public.

Yes, much in the same way Antifa and BLM and democrats who support them are actively killing people by creating the perfect breeding ground for the virus.

I wouldn’t let anyone who goes to those anywhere near or my family. I agree that it’s reckless behavior.

Update from summer vacation destination on Sweden’s west coast.

About 25% lighter than normal in terms of people based on the telecom traffic data. The main group that simply aren’t here are the Norwegians who usually come in numbers south from Oslo in their yachts and cars. Nothing is crowded but there are plenty of people out and about and in stores and restaurants. Distancing is happening but limited. Lines in stores are good with real distancing observed. The same is true for beach areas. Hand sanitizer is everywhere and in use. Hotel and bnb breakfast is staggered with scheduled time slots to help keep distancing. No one is wearing a mask save for the odd one off and some bars seem to have trouble keeping the young crowd from grouping. So a mixed bag all in all.

Official Numbers here in Sweden continue to drop. Many days are in single digits in terms of deaths. I’ll put up a new graph next week.

Denmark now open for travel for all Swedes. At this point it feels like a slow march toward normalcy but no doubt a second wave is potentially lurking.

Trump's campaign has to be frustrated as hell. They probably want him to stop giving these interviews because every one ends up as "sound bites from an imbecile", but he thinks he's great because he's a narcissistic ish-hole.

At least Biden is smart enough to stay on the sidelines and let him keep ef'ing up.

The people managing PR for these two goons must go through a bottle of Xanax a day

I had a lot of respect for Cain prior to the last few years. I feel like he was just sort of "going with the flow", trying to maintain relevance and work inside the machine.

He was a devoted GOP'er, but he was not an idiot. My guess is the mask-free visit to the rally was a calculated risk: he knew he was putting himself in danger, but wanted to support the party.

Unfortunately his gamble did not work out.

Dancing on his grave reveals a character issue IMHO. I can disagree with some of Cain's politics and still respect the man and what he accomplished in his lifetime. Regardless of your politics, the man was impressive.

This. ^^^^

Same applies when you see the righties here either go "Get well soon” vs "Trump gets to pick another one!” when it comes to RGB.

He does but i'm talking high level officials/celebrities that are really out in the open for all to see and who people are familiar with.  Household names.

The difference is Herman Cain died of Darwinism.  He deserves the same jeers a protester toppling a statue over himself deserves.

JJ made it seem Fauci single handedly started every protest and told them it was okay not to wear masks.
