I didn’t notice any former 2nd round CB or S passing through waivers today on reasonable deals with very low risk…did you?  Ima gonna have to go check it out again and make sure I didn’t miss someone.

3 years ago Howie said he was done adding injured players to the Eagles lineup. Another badly injured player (twice), but hey, low risk, so I really am not worried about it. I just don't like how Howie lies... in public, to everyone in Philly. Screw him, but go Eagles!!

I like it. Bring in Johnson and see if he can compete with Howard. I think he's got a decent chance to make the roster over Howard and if not then oh well.

CB for sure.  It would be best to bring in someone to compete with McPhearson for that 2nd outside spot opposite Slay (and not just hand McP the spot).  Hoping Wallace shows enough progress at S to earn increased play time going into year 2, but like McP it would be ideal to bring in someone to push him.  The only other safeties on the roster currently are McLeod (who suffered a torn ACL in mid December) likely won't be ready to suit up to start the season, Epps, and Adams (to compete for that 2nd spot opposite Harris ... have to assume he is locked in at one starting spot).

Maybe Howie is looking to bolster the positions more through current vet FAs (or players that are projected to be released).  But I also know with our cap situation (and the uncertainty of how many players teams will be allowed to bring to camp), it is difficult to add players giving them guaranteed $ if they will only be released shortly thereafter.

Johnson when healthy was a good RB.  This appears to be one of Howie's special: recovered injured player.  If 100%, it would be a great bargain.  But that is TBD.

Competition among the RBs will be good.  Expect the new coaches to feature run game more.  Even if they keep 4, Scott is in the bubble.  Could he be traded to bring something back?

Claimed off waiver, does it mean Johnson's previous contract has been voided?  Or his rookie contract comes with him?  Don't know if there is cap room for his deal.

Claiming him on waivers means we take on the remainder of his rookie contract.  According to this article (see link), he is to make $1.37M this year (but also says IF he makes the roster ... so I'd assume if he doesn't we owe him nothing?).

Yes it's only if he makes roster

Probably this is competition for Howard more than anything.  Sanders/Gainwell are locks and Scott is an entirely different skill set.

Not a bad move at all.

This is probably the case.

Maybe a 5th is kept for special teams or stashed on practice squad.

I get you, and Howie does that like with saying no band aid players but signed 1 year deals.

However, there's a difference between the first 2 weeks of free agency and picking up scraps post-draft that get cut, to have competition and see who makes the team. It's not like he's the hope at RB. They have 2 RBs that are locks, a 3rd likely a lock so this is just kicking the tires on a low risk.

Huntley has almost no chance.

We'll see I don't think kerryon Johnson is a shoe in he's struggled with injuries that have slowed him so we'll see.

I think Howard has a slimmer chance than Huntley, at least Huntley can return kicks and play cover teams Howard does neither.

We'll see.

I don't care who makes it as long as they can contribute.

This is interesting. Let’s see if getting cut lights a fire under Johnson. If not, then no big deal.

Nothing to do with lighting a fire under him he has injury problems

Howie said no band aids going into 2017 and then he signed a bunch of players on 1 year deals.

Yes that's what I said lol. He also said he wanted to get younger then extended injury prone vets, said he doesn't want to risk injury prone players that hope is not a strategy then drafted very injury prone Dickerson and said he hopes he'll be healthy.

Sanders is obviously a lock.  I think Gainwell will probably be a lock because I doubt he makes it to the PS without someone claiming him. So, it sets up an interesting 3 way competition between Scott, Johnson and Howard for what will most likely be two spots.

Sanders and Gainwell are locks. I am pretty sure Scott is in, otherwise what was the point of making him an exclusive free agent.?. So it sets up a competition between Howard and Johnson...or neither. I am fine with that. Gainwell is a baller and he was a steal in a 5th round. He will surprise a lot of people.

I think a lot of people have high expectations for him already.  Huntley was a 5th rd pick of Lions last year who got cut.  I don't see that happening with Gainwell but it's not unprecedented.

You may be right. We will see. Something happened to Huntley. He went from promising College prospect to not being able to get on the field. 19 rushing yards in 2020. Gainwell is a much better receiver I think.... and has more versatility..So hopefully he will make a transition to NFL and do well. We will see.

I agree and I don't think the Eagles would cut Gainwell if he has a slow start because he skipped 2020 and rustiness is probably expected.

Does anybody have the list of players (in the NFL)  that had no injuries the last 2 or 3 seasons?

There's a reason why the NFL roster size is 53 and the active size up to 48, with an additional practice squad. There are guys that start all 16 regular season games, but almost all of them make the injury list with something or other and they either heal, heal enough, or play through the pain. Now with the concussion protocols we have, practically every player will at some time be evaluated and removed from a game (with fans hoping they are cleared before the next one).

What is my point? I'm laughing at each and every one of you that thinks we can build a roster with players that can't get injured. Are some of you concussed?

Now,  when you look at our RB situation, you feel pretty good about Sanders being available for a majority of the games if his workload is around 20 touches per game. So, now you want to find the best 3 more guys you can to give him breathers and take his place in the case of injury. Are you really so paranoid that you can't believe that it's possible when one or two of those 3 guys may be prone to injuries when give a starter's workload?

"Waaaaaaa ... Howie said this and then did that .... waaaaaa ..."

Go see a hand specialist about your "grip." This is football.

You're point is fine except the volume of injuries the Eagles have suffered is way above the norm / the medium. Nobody expects the entire roster to stay healthy and yes important players will miss time but the Eagles have suffered way above pretty much every team.
