I agree, but I don't know if Jordan Howard has anything left in the tank.

Because he's so old or because Miami didn't use him?

I mean, that seems like such an absurd thing to say. I get saying, "I don't know if he'll make our team." But I have no doubt the guy can still play in the NFL (has plenty "left in the tank" ) if he wants to. He's currently only 26 years old. 2 years ago, he played very well for us as a runner and then suffered the stinger. He passed Miami's physical and signed with them on a 2 year deal we wouldn't match with the emergence of Sanders. Miami kind of fell in love with their cheaper RBs last year that are better receivers. Howard was mainly used as a short yardage/goal-line specialist and was only active for 5 games. He still led the team in rushing TDs (4) last year.

The thing about Howard is he never really stood out as a receiver. As a runner, he's probably better than everybody we have after Sanders, but he's probably behind them all as a receiver which makes him problematic for a team that doesn't want to tip off opposing defenses. The 2019 injury is in the past and no longer an issue. Miami tried to pigeon-hole him as a short-yardage specialist which he really isn't. He's just not quite a 3-down back in today's pass-first offenses. He's a throwback player like AP that can handle the job if you just need a guy to run 20-25 times per game and wear down a defense.

Again, I don't know if he'll make the team or not. If he doesn't, it won't be because he doesn't have anything left. It will be a matter of whether or not he fits what the team's needs are from the backup HBs.

Well, give us examples of running backs who have come back successfully after poor production for 2 1/2 years.  And while you're at it, explain to us why it's not absurd to think he'll come back such a long dry spell.  Did it ever occur to you there was a REASON why Miami used him sparingly???

Did you read my whole post or do I have to repeat myself? The answer is already typed.

For your question ... 1.5 years does not = 2.5 years. But guys that have bounced back ... let me see ... Buckhalter, Staley, AP, Ricky Williams, Marcus Allen, Gary Brown, Priest Holmes, Ottis Anderson, John Riggins, Earnest Byner ...
