Seth Joiner said exactly what I am seeing: This isn't and NFL offense, or even a college offense. Siri is running a high school offense against very smart, NFL defensive coordinators. Jalen Hurts was not under center even ONCE the whole game. No way to do play action and other pro concepts. Only RPO's that no longer work against NFL defenses. It's bullshi_t. Lurie and Howie came up with a guy so damn inept, it's embarrassing. Their yes man is a complete idiot. We have to watch this shi_t show for at least a year. Not me- I'm turning this insanity off. Lurie really needs to sell the team to someone who loves football and is KNOWLEDGABLE about the sport. How did they (Lurie and Howie) come to the conclusion that Siri was an NFL head coach in the 1st place? Why not hire a coach with NFL experience- who knows the game?

What do you see in Sirianni that gives you any confidence?

well, he's young, and due to that, there are possibilities.   There isn't much history there,  so you can't say "this coach does X, always does X can only do X and always rejects Y"

The short yardage problem seems to be largely solved.   There is that.   There was some at least slightly creative run blocking in the Panthers game and the use of Mailata in an unorthodox way.

The biggest problem is that Jalen Hurts is pretty much nothing like Philip Rivers.  If Siri and Shane and Brian Johnson and whoever else can develop a playbook for Jalen Hurts it would work better than the playbook for the Philip Rivers type QB.

I'm also seeing, with the use of Mailata at TE, the possibility that they could be looking at the use of Mailata as a superweapon and also Tyree Jackson as a superweapon.   Both of those guys can do things almost nobody else can.  It's possible they will use the superweapons enough to win.  tyree can throw a 60 yard pass, and catch a 60 yard pass.  He's taller and faster than all of the Eagles TEs.  How about heavy Harold Carmichael with a cannon arm and the proven ability to carry the ball?  I see Tyree Jackson making big plays if they put him out there.

If the Eagles had played the Jets and the Lions already instead of the Bucs and Chiefs, the Eagles are probably at 4-2 instead of 2-4.   People really need to take into consideration the quality of opponent.

I didn’t expect them to win. Most of us didn’t, but it’s disappointing this team has no offensive identity. It’s like they’re drawing up plays as you would in a sandlot.
They kept in close, but they need to be offensively balanced and flowing for all 4 qtrs.

All of that you're saying is fine and good.   I agree, playing like this, they'll lose to the best teams in the playoffs.

I think they beat bad and mediocre teams.  They end up with a lot more than 4 wins.

In a normal football game with 2 average teams,  most drives end in failure. Most failures are punts, sometimes turnovers.
But occasionally, you put some points on the board, hopefully TDs.   The Eagles are  putting a decent number of points on the board.  Not enough to beat the best teams like the Bucs and Chiefs, but enough to beat the 3-1 Panthers.  On drives, sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail,  but they succeed often enough.  22 points wins some games.  On their failed drives this game,  the Eagles didn't do much, a lot of 3 and outs.  But there were 3 solid TD drives,  2 were the full 75.  They also missed a FG.

I thought we were gonna get killed today..

that was a very plausible outcome but a close game was possible.

I'm looking at the scores of games, and it looks to me that the eagles are mediocre with an easy schedule.

falcons.   big loss to eagles, big loss to bucs, win over giants, close loss to washington, win over jets.
best to worst -  bucs, eagles, washington, giants, jets.

well, the eagles lost close to bucs, and have 5 games against washington giants and jets.

9ers - best to worst - Cardinals, Seahawks, Packers, Eagles, Lions
1 game against Lions.

Cowboys - best to worst - Bucs, Chargers, Panthers, Eagles, Giants.

here we see the Chargers as a tough game,  and the Eagles outperforming against the Panthers.

Chiefs - Bills, Chargers, Ravens, Browns, Eagles

Panthers - Cowboys, Eagles, Jets, Texans, Saints

the results against the panthers give the Eagles a shot against the Saints.

Bucs - Rams, Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles, Falcons, Dolphins

Ls to Chargers, Cowboys.

Ws over washington x2, giants x2, jets, lions, saints

That's 7-2.

the eagles are getting better,  not losing by 20 to the cowboys, by 12 to the Chiefs and to the mediocre 9ers,  but beating the mediocre Panthers and only losing by 6 to the bucs.

Went to bed pissed.

Yeah sure, we shouldn‘t let Brady score at will, but man I feel we were really coming back and got screwed hard by the Refs.

That taunting call still haunts me.

But yeah, first half Hurts was bad. I think he really improved later. Eagle of the evening was Watkins though. He battled from the get go and needs to be the starter from this point on!

To only throw for 115 yards against the worst pass defence in the NFL is unforgivable.

Any other QB would have thrown for at least double that.

There were the two long defensive PI's as well. Gotta factor those in as well.

Having said that, Hurts was poor. He misses a lot of throws that NFL QBs need to make. He missed some open guys tonight. You simply cant have 6 straight drives of only 3 offensive plays.

Just watched the highlights back.

Hurts passing obviously wasn't good enough, and @kiwieagleis right about the PI calls - looks like another 80 or so yards that were taken off.

but the run game actually looked ok from what i saw. Sanders made a few decent first downs, and we had a similar number of yards as TB

Well the 2nd half was better than the first

On paper perhaps, but it still ended with us trailing.

Oh, you're one of the ones who is wrong about most things.   Keep Dillard at LT until he actually sucks.  They drafted him with a first round pick to play Left Tackle and it would be right if he was able to play LT capably.

Mailata  can play RT, unless he's needed elsewhere, in which case maybe Driscoll at RT.

The Eagles just lost by 6 to the super bowl champs
the week before they beat the 3-1 Panthers.
they've also lost to the Chiefs and Cowboys.

They have an easier schedule coming up with jets and lions and 2 with washington and 2 with the giants broncos and raiders are both quite winnable games.   that's 8 more wins  for a total of 10, even without beating a team that you'd call good.  saints is winnable.  cowboys in philly is winnable,   and maybe the Eagles have some special insight into the mighty Chargers.  There's no losses there.  I would guess that there will probably be losses,  but there's no "no way they win that one" games.  The Eagles just played that game,  and they played the Chiefs. Cowboys in Dallas.  Those 3 games there are probably the 3 toughest games of the year, and they lost them all but they're out of the way, and on to easier games.

Dillard did suck last night.   Hurts isn't good enough.

The problem with this team is not Hurts.

He’s a part of it. You can’t suck for the better part of 2 1/2 quarters consistently, and then turn it on a bit when the opponent starts letting up and allow the game to look closer than it was and not think Hurts is a part of the problem.

So now they decide to run a little more? Against a defense that's really good against the run... Yeah sorry I don't think Sirianni is the answer. 115 passing yards against one of the worst pass defenses in the league? Pathetic.

Sounds like you didn’t watch the game. We ran the ball with our RBs one time in the first half. We finally ran the ball a little bit late in the game, and Sanders had a lot of success when he did get the chance. Helped us score a quick TD to make it a one possession game.

Missed most of the game. Gonna catch a recap somewhere. But what was the issue in this game?

@paco the airport I was at was only showing when the bucs have the ball. Is that normal for airports?

Sorry yeah I'll be honest I went off the 9 Sanders runs which in fairness is a big jump from previous weeks 🤣

Siri's first PC they asked his qualifications. He talked a LOT about learning from his brother...a high school coach.

Bucs phoned it in at times against a weaker team. Fournette ran all over us, the LBs suck, Siri barely ran the ball, Hurts messy, penalties, Reagor actually drew 2 DPI calls that put them in scoring position. Jake missed a FG. Siri play calling sucks.

The run game looked more than ok.

The question is why we waited for the fourth to use it.

Because our HC is a 🤡

What ??  The QB had a season low 4.4 YPA, and they didn’t eclipse 100 yards of offense until the 4th quarter.  Do you even watch the games ?

To be fair the pass interference was atrocious all game. The ones that they did call resulted in almost 100 yards alone. That played a role in the bad numbers. Was it me or did that lady ref have it out for us?

Yeah, we need to throw the damn ball more!!!

If you ask the coaching staff it was that impenetrable #1 run defense.

Singleton got trucked every other play either by Fournette or the TEs lmao. Hell is he doing out there providing for soft landings?

The Bucs backed off their defense in the 4th quarter and that, as much as anything the Eagles did, helped the Eagles run game.
