So basically we traded Flacco for Minshew. Gave up our 6th and get the Jets 6th.

Howie's a genius!

Love this!  Flacco was an insurance policy ONLY if we were actually competitive (lol) and Hurts got injured.  If anything were to happen to Hurts now I’d much rather see Minshew to see if he looks any better in this offense than old man Joe who surely has no future here.  Minshew, on the other hand, may … whether as starter or backup.

Yes - and we either got our 6th round pick back or we own the fifth round with four picks.

A lot of draft capital but howie may screw it up.

Btw, the jets pick will be higher than ours.

Eh…maybe, maybe not.

There is not much that Howie does for which he deserves credit but this was a good move. Flip a guy who has no valuable role to play at present or in the future for an asset. And some small cap savings - all good with me!

No way Howie would let Minshew start. Howie married himself to Hurts and he will go down in flames rather than admit he was wrong. We see it all the time in the NFL.

Yawwwwn.  Howie traded for Minshew too, even though he already had a veteran backup QB, so no need to admit he was wrong.  And he married himself to Wentz with a $128 million contract way more than he married himself to Hurts, and Wentz's benching and trade away was way more of an admission of being wrong than getting rid of Hurts on his $6 million 2nd round rookie contract would be.

You need a complete answer on Hurts before you move onto Minshew. That time hasn't come yet but may come later this year if Hurts just doesn't show improvement and the team continues to stink. You are then playing Minshew to see if he can be the bridge option for next year - either to the QB we pick in 2022 or 2023 given QB class is weak and may actually need someone to give us a year.

Getting rid of Flacco most likely is because we are about to trade for Watson, and need the room and will need the extra draft capital after we give away most of our 2023 draft for Watson.

Or.... Hurts shortly becomes the #2, Minshew the new #1 test, and one of the #1 picks next year is for.... another freekin QB.

Wow, I would have never believed that Howie could get something for Flacco. I guess our QB factory is back up and running. No one said it had to be a good factory, right?

"GOOD DAY, SIR!!!"

That might be going a little too far … let’s just hope he plays well against Miami.

Absolutely. If he helps us get a higher pick AND we get a high sixth-rounder, heck, Howie's a genius. Maybe we should Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce, and Lane Johnson to the Lions for a seventh.

He married himself to Wentz too and got out of that. Minshew clock has started.

Watson doesn't want to come here. He's going to Miami

I usually don't have opinions about personnel, but my gods that would be a mess.

Can't really complain too much about this. If Hurts isn't the guy (and it seems he is not) then they likely try Minshew anyway. This team isn't making the play offs so it isn't like they need the insurance of a veteran to back to the starter. Overall a pretty decent return for a player we brought in as a FA and isn't that good.

The positive thing about this trade, is that it indicates Eagles will be sellers at deadline & we’ll probably see some more trades

I wonder who else could be on the move.

They are getting rid of players, when the should be getting rid of coaches and a GM. These coaches are going to ruin players.

No way Howie expected to have to trade Wentz, he fired a coach 3 years removed from winning a Superbowl and then Wentz asked to leave anyway.

Yesterday it was reported he's off the Eagles radar. Depends on what article you read.

he most likely does not come here, but it is not beyond the realm of possibility that he does.

Trading Flacco paves the way to play Minshew.  The team gets a 6 round pick back for Flacco, a smart business move.  The team also adds a #3 QB, who would not upset the procession of QB development.

What really surprise me is the release of LS, a good one and only one on the roster.  Some team may pick him up.  There are other fringe players whom they can let go without hurting the team, e.g. that rookie D-line man who has yet to dress for any game this season.
