Uh, to be a backup QB? 14 hours ago, Road to Victory said: We basically gave him away for nothing. Howie can’t get a 1st or 2nd round pick right, let alone a 6th rounder. I know the team sucks right now, but it's OK to not reflexively whine about every move. Getting a pick for a guy who was never going to play for us when we have a younger option behind him is a good thing.
October 26, 20213 yr So about the 5th round conditions 1) Do know what they are yet? 2) The Jets own the Steelers 5th rounder. So is it the Jets 5th or the Steelers? Depending on #2, I’d really like to know #1. The Jets 5th rounder would be a nice pick to have

And Howie is all-in on Hurts and has to show he made the right decision. I do think he is married to Hurts and will go down with the sinking ship rather than play a potentially better option like Minshew. Minshew is the much better QB right now, but Minshew also isn't a long-term option. He traded for Minshew as depth, but not to compete with Hurts. All my opinions though.

October 26, 20213 yr This just shows how much teams value cam newton. Trade for a very meh veteran QB instead of just signing one
October 26, 20213 yr I always thought we had to do something with Flacco before we could move Minshew to the backup roll and possibly start him at some point this season. I didn't see a way you make that move with Flacco here without it creating a whole lot of tension. This move allows them to make Minshew the backup under the guise of "he's the next man up". I just didn't see them deactivating or releasing Flacco to make Minshew the backup and they certainly wouldn't deactivate Hurtz and dress Flacco and Minshew. As long as Flacco was here it made it difficult to start Minshew. I really like this move. We get something for Flacco and now we have a chance to assess Minshew at some point this year. Plus it all happens without a lot of controversy.

Howie is not all in on Hurts. If he was, he wouldn’t have been talking to the Texans about bringing in a dude with serious legal trouble going on. And all that started before the season… Hurts has only decreased his standing since then.

We could only wish ... and would be one reason to root against Hurts. But I don't think Roseman is married to him.
