Years ago I actually preferred Columbia's hiking shoes. But now they fit me like most Nikes and the toe area is really narrow for my foot

Columbia fishing pants are great for spring and fall hiking though. Very lightweight and they breath really well. Lots of pockets

I still have a pair of cold weather Columbia's somewhere. Haven't worn them in a decade. The wife probably migrated them to storage somewhere.

My son and I mostly do our local hiking in spring and fall. I always have at least 1 pair of those fishing pants handy, I love them. I may start to do some winter hikes this year now that I have a lot more free time but I will probably go solo on those. I'll have to get some pants for the cold, although I probably could just wear Under Armour under my regular hiking clothes.

About four years ago now, the wife broke her ankle on some black ice while out snow hiking. Lovely spiral bone split that started at the top of her boots.

She hasn't had any interest in snow hiking since.

Damn. Hope she has recovered since and at least can enjoy some "fair weather" hiking.

My wife loves to walk but doesn't care for hiking at all. We go to local boardwalks and park 2 times during the week so she can get some miles on her legs.

We have not been back to that spot (one we both love) but we still hike, although not half as much as we did prior.

She has plates and screws for life. It was a long, ugly road to recovery.

Thanks.

Only one of us mentioned foot issues, and it wasn't me. Maybe you need to look into changing your foot wear, or maybe you just need to stop being so self conscious over what others may think of your shoes.

Uhhh no. @Gannan also mentioned how sketchers were a reason he developed planter fasciitis. Maybe don’t take everything as an attack because your self conscious about being poor.

Kanter has become my favorite athlete of all time.

Oh, @Gannan has the same crap genetics as you, so I need to pick a different footwear? That makes sense if you a have a mental disability of some sort I guess.

Maybe don't project so much. I understand the kids at school hurt you deeply by making fun of your shoes as a child, but we all didn't have these issues that you for some reason carried deep into adulthood. But, now that you have awesome sneakers do you find the guys at work like you more?

Bruh you are too sensitive. I just tried to give you some advice because I know what those shoes do to people. It’s not from me wearing them, I don’t have messed up feet, but keep wearing them and you will. Enjoy the orthotics.

Lol. Dude really just did a 180 from a crappy True Value fake Vikas impression to "I just tried to give you some advice". Did you decide on that course of action before or after you realized how idiotic you looked on a message board talking trash about shoe preferences?

Well at least now that you have the really cool shoes that all your friends wish they had, you can run a lot faster and jump a lot higher, right?

Na. I told you to be less poor as a joke. Gave you real advice about how the memory foam sole in sketchers will break down and cause you to develop planter fasciitis. Then you will need a correcting orthotic. I’d suggest a full length one, super feet makes a nice one. The short half length ones can cause other issues. Enjoy.

You actually beat the "be less poor" shtick to death (probably because nobody acknowledged your poor attempt at imitation).  And I bet I could put those ishy sketchers on right now and absolutely roast you in the 40.

Lol. I’ll run backwards and beat your 4E wearing ass.

Unlikely. My slippers also have memory foam. I'll wear those so you won't look quite as foolish pulling up the rear while I watch and wait for you to finish.

That was me who developed it.

Those shoes were comfortable, but they really offered no support. They're not for everyone.

Well honestly they are not meant to be worn all day long every day. I wear mine to run out to the store and crap like that. I might have them on for 2 to 3 hours tops. I wouldn't use them to work in or anything.

I bet I'd still beat you in a foot race.

Until this bout I was running regularly and getting back into road race shape. My guess is you're not able to maintain a 7:30 pace in a 10k in your mid 40s.

Doubtful. I stand by what I said, I'd roast you in the 40 wearing slippers and I don't need to "get back into shape". I also don't use age or injury/sickness as an excuse. You can either do it or you can't.

I am not a sprinter. I ran the 1/4 mi in 60s in HS and the 100m in 14s. Basically the same pace. (And a 60s quarter is not good)

My point was that my feet are fine and healthy. I have even run in Vibrams.

Some shoes aren't good for some people. Fortunately we live in an age of choice.

You don't have to make everything into some value judgement on someone's genetics or health. Smoke a joint and chill the f out.
