The VaGiants figured out that they just needed to beat on him a little bit on option plays and stuff the run in the redzones and then let Hurts take care of the rest with his arm....and he did. When was the last team that won a Super Bowl with a trick offense? Seahawks with Russell Wilson, less than a decade ago. Running the ball = not a gimmick. Philly Special = gimmick. So, this Eagles team won the Super Bowl very recently, and the most memorable play to most people was that gimmick play, the Philly Special.

There's a difference between a gimmick play and a gimmick offense. Every coach has a gimmick play or two in his back pocket.

So...the trick/gimmick isn't running the ball as an offense, ala Marshawn Lynch in the year you reference. Without even looking, I'd am confident that a "pass first" Wilson ran/runs the ball nowhere near at the pace of "run first" Hurts. The trick/gimmick is having an offense that runs the ball with your QB an inordinate amount of times (most likely because he can't pass). We run a college zone read or read option offense with a few traditional sets sprinkled in. No one wins big in that format. Nice try on the one play by the Eagles in a Super Bowl. That shows how desperate you were to try to find an NFL team that won big with a trick/gimmick offense, like our college style, running QB offense. One play does not an offense make. My point stands. The Giants came up with a novel idea and made our QB throw the ball and we lost.

What has worked for the Eagles this year is fine as long as they never fall behind.
December 4, 20213 yr It’s funny that the Eagles are offensively better than the Giants, but this clown is talking. The same dope who cried his team didn’t make the playoffs with 6 wins. Worse still is people take this clown seriously.

January 3, 20223 yr "Facing the 5-10 Chicago Bears, a team widely expected to fire their head coach after this season, the Giants weren't just bad on offense, they were historically putrid. With starting quarterback Daniel Jones shut down for the season, back-up Mike Glennon finished the day 4-of-11 for 24 passing yards, two interceptions and four fumbles (two lost). Of Glennon's four completed passes, two gained yards. Throw in the four sacks allowed by the Giants offensive line for a total loss of 34 yards, and the Giants passing game gained a grand total of -10 yards.” https://www.yahoo.com/sports/joe-judge-goes-on-bizarre-dubious-rant-after-giants-post-worst-passing-performance-of-the-century-233756038.html Perhaps this dope should do less talking and more coaching. The Giants bringing this guy back is a travesty for them.

I'm so sorry that Lane Johnson caught a TD pass. I understand how offensive unorthodox plays are. I'm also sorry that the Eagles, by winning, are spoiling your goals of blaming Jalen Hurts for everything, so that you can yell and scream like a baby so that the Eagles would waste their valuable resources on a generic QB with a top draft pick, and go back to mostly losing like last year. Well, the Eagles have a winning record this year, and Jalen Hurts has done well, and Lane Johnson, offensive tackle, has a TD catch. The Eagles might be on to the playoffs in a couple hours. I understand that these things disappoint you, but they're all actually good for the Eagles, a team that you're supposed to be for. You will find that if there's a conflict between what I think, and what you think, you are wrong, and I am right.

The Giants bringing this guy back is a travesty for them. I looked at the play by play of this game, and it was pretty interesting. There was a lot of Wildcat with Saquon Barkley, and it worked well. They used 2 OLs eligible at times. That worked well. Barkley had 21 carries for 101 yards. He did well. The Giants also used Booker. Booker did not do as well. hi This series pretty much says it. 1st & 10 at NYG 25 (14:42 - 1st) S.Barkley right guard to NYG 33 for 8 yards (J.Johnson). 2nd & 2 at NYG 33 (13:58 - 1st) D.Booker right guard to NYG 37 for 4 yards (R.Smith). 1st & 10 at NYG 37 (13:19 - 1st) (Shotgun) Direct snap to S.Barkley. S.Barkley left tackle to NYG 43 for 6 yards (E.Jackson; R.Smith). 2nd & 4 at NYG 43 (12:40 - 1st) D.Booker left guard to NYG 45 for 2 yards (A.Hicks, B.Nichols). 3rd & 2 at NYG 45 (11:47 - 1st) (Shotgun) M.Glennon pass short middle intended for K.Golladay INTERCEPTED by Ta.Gipson (A.Burns) at CHI 45. Ta.Gipson to NYG 24 for 31 yards (M.Glennon). He had a lot of carries between 5 and 10 yards, if that was all they did, it would have worked. Booker not doing as well did hurt and Glennon being incredibly bad destroyed it. Can Barkley throw the ball? Toney can. Replace Glennon with Toney.

January 11, 20223 yr Can’t believe Mara let this guy keep his job. If Adam Gases eyes could speak, they’d sound like Judge. I guess some teams make idiotic moves just cuz, like the Bears firing Lovie after he goes 10-6 and bringing in Trestman, they still haven’t replaced Lovie, 10 years and 3 coaches later.
