Explaining Ahsoka's reasons for leaving the Jedi order adds to that. I really thought in the Last Jedi Luke was going to reinvent the Jedi based on learning from their past mistakes but instead he was like I'm out.

She was more stoic and bland in live action than the cartoon, where she was feisty and sassy, and moved quicker. They did a bad job with her character in the Ahsoka TV show. There was a lot of silly stuff. There were some good things in that show as well, and the look and tone of a lot of it was cool. But if they're moving forward with new stories that take place after episode 9, they need new characters. They could draw inspiration from prior content like The Clone Wars show, novels, etc. for planets and races of beings, plot lines, etc. They could scale it down, instead of always being a story to save the entire galaxy, it can be more like Star Trek or certain comic book movies that center on a smaller story. Stopping an invasion or genocide on a certain planet for example. Frankly that's how the Force Awakens should have been.I was being a little sarcastic. Ahsoka has become the pinup for why Filoni influenced Star Wars has really struggled. For me anyway. Didn't hate the character in the cartoons but the world in world (whatever it was called) time travel stuff, in retrospect, was flat out dumb Marvel nonsense. It was a cheap trick to not say goodbye to his pet character. Makes no sense.21 hours ago, NOTW said:TCW also gave more material about Jedi questioning why they are involved in war and what their role should be. Stories on Coruscant (Lusankya arc would have been great), Mount Tantiss done properly, Rogue Squadron, New Jedi Order (and Luke's conflicts), etc. All built around Luke, Leia, Han and new characters. Gah!
October 16Oct 16 I just remembered a high level story from the EU of a mystery unmanned Empire Fleet, flying around the Galaxy (no idea if the story resolved as it was mentioned across numerous books). As a concept, a neat way to move on from whatever the last films etc are, but introduce new characters. The New Republic, the remnants of the Empire, bounty hunters, crime syndicates etc. Its kind of similar to some of the films, but you can build a mystery box if you need to.If Lucasfilm so desired, they could flashback to Vader, Palpatine, Tarkin, etc to get people interested. You could have the Jedi as conscientious objectors to this ,but forced to support the Govt etc. A very simple setup that can payoff over multiple films, etc. Better than repeating the 3 trilogies again and again
October 16Oct 16 Author Remember when the First Order used a planet killer to destroy not only a planet, but an entire system that contained members of the New Republic and by the end of The Last Jedi they were apparently down to a handful of people left to fight? Then Lando brought all the militia out to defeat them in the end and the First Order was over?Basically the same situation after Return of the Jedi. A proper sequel should have shown how the remnants of the Empire would try to keep things going - as they've shown in The Mandalorian. And the rebuilding of the New Republic. The prequels were criticized for having too much politics but that's a huge part needed. Did the sequel trilogy even have any scenes on Coruscant?
October 17Oct 17 I've largely purged the last 3 films from memory, but I don't think they touched on Coruscant at all. The capital planet of the Galaxy, forgotten about. Why did the First Order not try and take Coruscant? Or did they have control of it? So why didn't the "Rebels" fight for it? Rather than another planet killing weapon <yawn>.For a fresh start, Lucasfilm could have used the intro crawl to set the scene for the remnants, politics of the New Republic etc, so at a broad stroke, got into the action of chasing down Admiral Pellaeon, finding clone facilities etc. The first film in a trilogy could end on a cliffhanger of the Chiss Ascendancy, the Hutts/Black Sun Crime Syndicate or Yuuzhan Vong showing themselves. 2nd film could be a team up movie to fight the enemy, etc. That took me 5 mins to plan out. Some film/tv industry moaningSW is a great indictment of Hollywood's laziness. Remaking a classic film/trilogy, but tweak the story a little and hope no one notices. And to be fair, the first film absolutely raked the money in from the box office and merch, so job done - mission accomplished. I guess Lucasfilm hoped the kids not old enough to see the OG Trilogy and Prequels, would just lap it up and not notice the parallels and bad story writing, and the OG fans would go with it enough too.I'll be fair to Star Wars. Terminator has gotten steadily worse on film, Tron seems to have done the same with Tron Arse,, Indiana Jones has gotten worse, Star Trek seems to be turning into a CW show, so its not a unique issue. Hollywood cannot make good action films/series anymore, outside of a few exceptions. Its no wonder Anime and Manga are killing it. They filled the vacuum when Hollywood got complacent
Monday at 01:28 PM4 days Believe what you will because it's the internet, but supposedly Bob Iger said, isn't Solo dead in the last movie? And that was that. It was greenlit by Lucasfilm, so I am surprised some parts of the internet aren't writing about Iger and Kennedy falling outWould a Ben Solo film be interesting? Yep. In today's Lucasfilm? Nope. It does kind of show what a mess Lucasfilm is that years after the last movie, this idea popped up. More interesting than Mando and Baby Yoga 😉 though
Tuesday at 03:23 PM3 days Author Everything Star Wars after the original trilogy is a "what if" they did it differently, it would have been so much better. There are so many different projects, different time periods jumping back and forth, new content that retcons old content, etc.The sequel trilogy could have used the Hunt for Ben Solo concept. Instead of Luke being in exile (already done with Yoda and that's now how Luke should have ended his story), Ben Solo is the one who goes into exile because he's tormented by the pull to the dark side and his grandfather Vader's legacy. Luke struggles with trying to learn how to be a Jedi Master teaching and training others and starting up the Jedi Order again. The new Sith/Dark Force/Knights of Ren whatever villain is after Ben to turn him, Luke and his parents are after him to keep him in the light. Meanwhile there's the rebuilding of the New Republic with the old cast passing the baton to new leaders. It could have been simple. It also didn't need to be a trilogy. They could have scrapped the "episode" format and just made one really good post-ROTJ movie and then from there decide which direction to go.
