"Jason Peters, they know what he is, what he’s capable of doing. From what I’ve been told, Peters turned down offers from elsewhere because he wants to stay with the Eagles. The Eagles want him. Now, you can look at it on the surface and say, well he’s 38 years old. But I will say this; he is that rarity of a guy who, at 38 years old, is still one of the best technicians at his position and is still, I would argue, one of the top 10 players, I think you guys would agree, at his position as well. Granted, injuries have started to pile up a little more, he’s playing 80 to 85 percent of the snaps. But I’d rather have Jason Peters 80 to 85 percent of the time than not have him at all right now.”

Peters is turning down offers to come back to Philly!!! I mean if that’s true then it’s pretty much a done deal. He’s gonna be back.

Make it stop.

If you bring peters back you basically admit you blew that pick, so if you think you did blow it, you fix that mistake and lick your wounds.  You trade for tunsil if you want to secure the left side for 10 years.  There’s gotta be some options that aren’t 38 and washed up that are better than Dillard if you think Dillard is a complete bust.

Unless they see him as a complete disaster - which doesn't seem to be the case - they won't cut the 22nd overall pick going in only his second year.  Not to mention the $7.3 million dollar cap hit and $10 million dollar dead money charge they'd have to take.

Maybe bringing back Peters on a team-friendly deal makes sense as the kid develops.

The kid would be half way through his rookie deal before he becomes the starter. If Peters does come back then it has to be as back up.

He’s ready when he’s ready.  Whoever can best protect Wentz’s blind side should play.

Well they'll need good protection week one!!

If they bring in Peters as a desperation starter for this year, don't bank on Dillard starting ever.  2021 won't be his year either.  Prince, Mailata, or someone else...or, heaven forbid, Peters...would be starting in 2021.

LT isn't a position that is left to chance.  At WR, LB, even DE...they'll throw a disappointing high pick in there for a year just to let their investment play out.  Maybe all this smoke is BS, but if it's not and they do bring back Peters, they sure aren't turning the position over to Dillard next year either.

I disagree with every single sentence/statement in this paragraph.  Every one.

Peters still looking for that one last big payday.  Take a team friendly 4-5 mil one year offer and go out as an All Time Eagles great

Doesn’t mean it won’t happen unfortunately. I’ll state this, if the Eagles want him back he will be back.

Howie wants him because in dog years, he is only 5 years old.

I see what you've done there... But isn't it 7 dog years for every 1 human year?

There’s no more big pay days for Peters. There’s no multi year deal with a big signing bonus in his future.

Exactly. There’s maybe a one or two year deal at a cap-friendly price in his future.

I really don't understand why some fans get so worked up about the idea. If he comes back and plays --- great!. If Dillard isn't better than him right now, then let him keep working to get better in practice. Acting like a young player can't possibly succeed in the NFL if he doesn't start playing from day 1 is ignorant. Aaron Rodgers sat for 3 years behind a legend (at the time). Was he ready day 1? IDK, but he worked to get better and when his time came he was ready. These young players ... they aren't entitled and we need to stop pretending they are.

I see opinions on here all the time and I see the ones where people think Peters is not good anymore. I just roll my eyes. He may not be one of the top 3 in the league these days, but he was better than Dillard last year and probably still is. Of course, I've said this in other topics, but I simply don't care about age. If a 38 year old can outplay a 24 year old, give me the 38 year old all day.

I must be counting wrong.  Is Dillard at day 1?

Aaron Rodgers was also starting when he was Dillard's age.  Brett Favre went to a pro bowl the last year Rodgers was on the bench.  Then he went on to 2 more after the Packers got rid of him because they wanted Rodgers in there.

Peters is done, toast.  He's not a legend who still has something to offer like Favre in 2007.  No one is calling Peters for a reason.

Yep, when Rodgers was ready, he started. Actually, Peters is very much like 2007 Favre with the exception being durability.  You just don't want it to be so. If being somewhere around the 10th best LT in the league is toast, then I guess he's toast.

If he was a top 10 LT, one of the 32 teams would have given him a call.  He’s unemployed for a reason.

Again, Favre went to 2 probowls after 2007.  Peters will be lucky to start 2 games.

Do you follow off-season's much? First of all, we don't know what teams may have been in contact with him or his agent. We don't know what his asking price is, although, normal negotiation practices would suggest it would be higher than he'd actually sign for. It's just part of the process. Teams have a lot of factors to consider such as the compensatory draft pick formula (that deadline has passed), interest from other teams, rumors about other teams' players possibly becoming available (cuts or trades), getting a chance to evaluate the current state of the team in some OTAs, etc...  There is no rush to sign a guy like Peters because: He's 38 and you know what you are getting (older veterans often skip part of training camp anyway to decrease wear and tear on their bodies). The longer he hangs around, the more a team friendly deal is a real possibility. It makes sense to get an idea where your current player stands before you sign a stopgap replacement.

So acting like no team wants him just because he doesn't have a contract yet (see Clowney) is ignorant. Teams are just approaching this the way they should. Let the cost come down and get the best deal you can for your team. Even the Eagles are doing this and they know he was a better player than Vaitai who is now making way more than he's worth. Peters is not a long-term answer for any team, but he can help any team right now that doesn't have a good LT. He will be employed and play better that you will give him credit for.

Yea just like Darren Sproles was so great and useful to us.  His tank is empty.  Empty.  Never before in NFL history has there been a LT rotation until we tried to use Jason Peters' corpse in a platoon the last 2 years.

Teams don't want a LT rotation.  Unlike DE, teams also don't wait until June to figure out their starting LT.  If someone wanted Peters to start, they'd have signed him.  No one wants a fat out of shape 38 year old to play 70% of the snaps in the best case scenario that he actually stays healthy.

He's 38 and you're right...you know what you're getting...you're getting your backup LT playing the most critical snaps in the 4th quarter.

You said it yourself.  Vaitai has a contract.  Peters doesn't.  The Eagles are the only team in the NFL that would consider signing him.  The only way that changes is if a starting LT blows out a knee and a team gets desperate mid-season.

Rumors are JP turned down offers to come back to the Eagles. If Dillard were as good as everyone assumes this wouldn't even be considered.

And if JP were as good as some think he’d be signed.

Those rumors are agent driven.
