Anyone here ever been spear fishing? I really want to get into it. I love hunting, I love the water and I love eating fish. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of fishing. Nothing wrong with it, but not something I get excited about doing more than a couple times per year.

Seems like spear fishing would be perfect for me though.

Never been spearfishing, only accompanied some guys who did.  Lots of fun from what I saw.  I also have a few buddies who spearfish for carp above water with these trident/frog gig looking deals during the Spring spawn when the fish are in very shallow mudflats.  It really looks like a hoot.

we actually did it when we were younger in the local creek. def fun times, but it was just going after sunnies or sucker fish, nothing like you see guys doing on tv. certainly something I'd like to try and do again.

well got the boat out a few times since we bought it. did a couple maintenance checks and I ended up changing out the water pump. good thing too because the old one was completely shot. also switched out the primer solenoid. thing ran like a champ. got it out on the Delaware the other night going for catfish. tossed out some liver and 5mins later my rod almost went into the water. lost the fish, but whatever I had was huge because the hook bent out and failed.

Drew muzzleloader bull elk and rifle doe antelope in Nevada for this coming Fall.  Time to start planning.  I used to live there until 2014, but my intel is now old.  Have calls in to the regional biologists for each unit and will start taking notes.

Colorado deer draw results will be out in a couple of days.  Not likely to draw this year since I put in for a tough unit.  Worst case, stashing another preference point.

I had gone to CO every even numbered year since 2012 to hunt elk and mulies - this will be my first year not going - pretty bummed about that.  Good luck wherever you go!

It's been a strange year for CO.  Guys who had a lot of points that they theoritcally should've cashed out with got nothing and others drew longshot tags with weighted preference points for stuff like moose/sheep.

I didn't draw my deer tag there, which was no surprise, but I now have 8 deer preference points going forward.  It will likely take 12-13 points to get the unit I want, but I'm in no rush.  I can get mule tag tags elsewhere until this one is drawn.

I want to do something like this -- free dive, a spear gun of some kind, and warm tropical water (yes, the clickbait thumbnail worked):

That's exactly what the guys I was with were doing: just off the Florida coast near Key Largo, "tickling" for lobsters and spearing red snapper.  I think you'll dig it.

niiiiice. I haven't gotten back out since last week, but my older son took the wife and our younger son out on the lake a couple times. she caught a few crappies and yellow perch. she seems hooked on fishing now.

was going to go surf fishing tomorrow but I think that's a no go now with this storm rolling through.

Was born into a fishing family in Cape May.  Miss it.   Never a hunter.  Good luck.

Couple friends on my block growing up had a place in Cape May.  They spent their summers there.  I visited many times.  My family would usually go to Sea Isle for a couple weeks.  Great part of the world.  Haven't been there for 15 years.
