June 27, 2025Jun 27 Well I got out of 28 years later shaken like I haven't been in a long while from watching a movie. Absolutely amazing that these dudes have now reinvented the zombie flick TWICE, cementing their place on the mount rushmore of zombie directors. As i said last night it reminded me most of Refn's Valhalla Rising and it also fits in well with Robert Eggers hyper realism. The characters and the setting felt genuinely and believably alien, the music and visuals were effectively unsettling.A couple comments I've seen in here, the political allusions for instance I think are causing some of the blowback. Its a shotgun to the face of both Brexit and the Alpha male podcast bro culture so there's that (literal roided up swinging D's 😄). The wacky ending confused people also, I saw it more as a segway to the next film which appears to be setting up as a crazy Warriors style post civilization flick. So yeah, i think it's better than the original. 28 days revived a dead genre, this one blew right through a crowded field and brought it back to the biting contemporary social commentary of the original Romeros and lesser knowns like Dead Girl.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I agree with the overall assessment. The introduction of the "alphas” was a brilliant addition.SpoilerWhen the father and son were being chased/targeted when they were crossing the path back to their island, I thought it was one of the most genuinely terrifying scenes I can remember from any movie.
July 11, 2025Jul 11 I saw Nosferatu a 2nd time. Good gawd this is one of those I could watch 10 more times. My fave movie from a great director. I need an "I am an appetite" tshirt so bad. In an era where sex with minors is such a hot button politicized topic, Eggers made the rawest most cutting edge film about it since Hard Candy and its like nobody even noticed.
July 12, 2025Jul 12 Author It Feeds is really good. Just streamed it last night. Horrifying entity and compelling story. Definitely worth the watch.

It combined 2 great horror movies (Cabin in the Woods and Happy Death Day) and butchered them both. My full review in spoilers below. Spoiler

August 10, 2025Aug 10 Weapons is pretty good. I had no idea what to expect since the trailer was pretty vague. It wasn’t as batshit crazy as I thought it might be, but solid acting and the different perspectives was a nice touch.
August 12, 2025Aug 12 Excuse me if this was discussed, but I found "Clown in a Cornfield” entertaining. Certainly did not see where last 1/2hr of film went. Waited till it was free on streaming. Won’t pay to see it.
August 14, 2025Aug 14 I finally watched Sinners, I was happy to go along until it got to the Irish dancing bit, it went downhill quicker than Lindsey Vonn from there.Ultimately it just isn't scary or sexy and a movie about Vampire's has to be one or the other to be any good.

I may try to give it another go
August 31, 2025Aug 31 With the remake of Toxic Avenger coming out in the theaters, I rewatched the original on Amazon. It is a cult classic. Would definitely not be released in today’s climate. Planning to see remake this Wednesday.
October 4, 2025Oct 4 It’s spooky season and this thread needs to be revived from the dead.@hputenis stop cranking your hog in the bathroom of whatever sailor bar you frequent and get to recommending films about people cutting off their own caulk. Anyways, Bring Her Back was pretty good. I believe it’s the same guy that did Talk to Me. It’s streaming on HBO Max. It starts slow but the second half has some gnarly scenes. 7/10

That director knows how to create absolute terror. I said it while I was watching it, and I stand by it. Weapons is a top 5 horror movie for me. It just hit on every level - acting, cinematography, element of surprise, also wtf am I watching? 😂 So so good. I saw Him, and it was what I expected. I love Marlon Wayans because he’s hilarious, and that may skew my opinion a little, but I liked it. The end was insanity, but honestly……if you like football, this movie can relate. I think Tom Brady did the same ish!! And what we’ve been waiting for…..The new VHS Halloween. It’s phenomenal. I really hope they never stop making these because the last 2 are incredible anthologies. The 3rd segment of VHS Halloween has chocolate covered phenuses, balls with the hair, ears, kidneys, and some other organs. It reminded me of the scene from Temple of Doom where Indy throws that monster into the rock crushing machine, but this rock crushing machine only squirts out edible organs covered in caramel and chocolate. All brought to you by hutpenis during the halftime show. Go Birds 🦅!! Side note……Anyone else have PTSD hearing the 60 minutes tick tock because it’s the sign that the weekend is over and you had to go to school the next day?
October 8, 2025Oct 8 28 years later was awesome - I dug all the weirdness and especially the huge zombie dong!
October 11, 2025Oct 11 My brother and I used to spend every Halloween running through old horror movies. I haven’t done it since he passed away. Thinking about bringing it back this year. Does anyone else do that? If so, what’s your lineup look like?

Trick R Treat is always a fun one to watch. Halloween movies of course. Just off the top of my head.Sorry for your loss.

That summer of 1995 I probably watched New Nightmare like 25 times lmao. My dad had the illegal cable with all the movie channels and I feel like this was on repeat on one of the stations.

We used to throw on The Thing, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead, all the classics.
