Great match from Cody and Cena tonight. That felt like the match that they wanted to have at Mania. No interference, no shenanigans, just a pure match.

WWE have royally F’ed this up. Cena suddenly going back baby face? In such an uncreative way? Giving the title back to Cody? Man I was starting to enjoy wrestling again but that might force me back out. Heavyweight title is more interesting than the main title now.

It definitely was weird. A couple of things that threw it off and made them change direction in my opinion was the fallout with Travis Scott and The Rock being MIA. They built the heel turn around those two and now there really isn’t a payoff anymore. Throw in that Brock is back now who can work as a monster heel, it makes more sense having Cena be a face again.

So the parts that don’t make sense to me are:

1. the whole Rock and Travis Scott stuff as you have said. Why did Cena align with them? All it meant was 1) Scott helped him win the title with a distraction and 2) Cena played dirty for a few months. He didn’t get much help from then and it wasn’t really a true alignment.

2. The baby face turn is fine… but it was all too quick. Why turn basically on one night? And the reasons were okay I guess? But it didn’t feel right. He wanted to ruin wrestling then suddenly he didn’t? Not buying it.

3. So now there’s 4/5 months left of the Cena retirement tour with what story? Lesnar back okay but there’s no title involved. I’ll be honest I’m not bothered with Lesnar being back. I was far more interested in seeing if Cena were to leave with the title or not. That left intrigue right up to his last match. Now it’s going to be what? Just some matches against previous competitors?

4. I’m not a Cody guy so I can’t stand that he lost it back to Cody. They’ve basically made Cody this HoF legend… He beat the greatest of all time when he was so say "back to his best” and was the best version of Cena. It was a complete nonsense to be honest.

5. Who is there to face Cody? Feels like they are watering down the WWE championship. All the interesting fighters are in the heavyweight frame. Punk, Rollins, Reigns, Knight, Uso. Just makes no sense to give it to Cody now as he’s got nobody to fight really. Not anyone with any interest anyway.

They had a great chance to do something very special and very different with this Cena story. They messed it up big time.
