Speaks to his opposition as much to his ability.  I'll circle back to the beginning -- who did Tyson ever beat?  Do you consider the light heavyweight Michael Spinks to be his signature win, or the 39 year-old Larry Holmes, who hadn't fought in 2 years and took the Tyson fight on a few weeks notice?  Both point to him being the best of that period, but not toward all-time levels at all.  Who was his best win after Buster Douglas knocked him out -- Razor Ruddock?

He got embarrassed by Evander Holyfield twice (and Holyfield isn't a top 10 all-time guy, either) and was basically beaten to death by Lennox Lewis.  He just wasn't nearly good enough against elite competition.

You could make this argument with many fighters. Who did Marciano beat besides an aging Joe Lewis? Jersey Joe?

Or like we say in football, you can only beat whoever is on your schedule.

And obviously he wasn't the same fighter against Holyfield and Lewis as he was in the pre-prison / D'Amato era. If he faces Holyfield 10 years earlier, I think Tyson wins without question.

At the time Tyson fought Holyfield, Holyfield was still considered a nobody. So it's not like Tyson was taking on some perennial heavy wright champion and they were both the same age when they fought.

I'm also bias because Holyfield was my favorite boxer lol

Holyfield is one of the most underrated heavyweights ever, but if he faces Tyson in '88 instead of '98, I think he gets KO'd by Tyson.

Being in jail for 3 years during your prime years doesnt help you work on your skills either

There is nothing to do in jail but work out and hit the weights. Doubt he lost much

I don't disagree, however even when he faced tyson he was still basically a nobody. He didn't start getting recognition till his riddick bowe fights and tyson fights. Either way I just miss traditional boxing it's a lost art. I never got into mma or ufc. The feather weights carrier on for awhile but no real heavy weight matches after guys like Holyfield and tyson were done.

In other news while searching for this information thee is talk of another bout between Holyfield and tyson!!

Everybody including media going on about Tyson.. no one showing love to Jones?

Jones just isn't a polarizing figure. Everyone loves Tyson, he's one of the Mikes that people copied as kids (Jackson, Jordan). Jones doesn't come close to the same hype level. And BHop was robbed

Joe Louis was 75 years old when they fought.

Well the rules for this fight are lame and definitely not worth 50 bucks to get.

The actual fight is probably going to be around 12am

Ya gotcha

I think tyson wins easy and jones makes a ton of excuses

Tyson pretty much destroying jones, surprised he is still standing

Meh.. mike did look better. Jones relied on quickness during his career and with age that goes. Power still there for Mike as of Jones looked like there was little weight behind his punches other than the lunging jabs. Was exactly what it was. An exhibition.

Lol they called it a draw. Mike won easily. Jones was exhausted at the start of round 2

It was funny how they asked Jones if he was afraid to get hurt and Mike cuts in and says "I was afraid to get hurt. I haven't fought in 15 years why nobody care about my ass"

Mike wants to do another with Jones but I don't think he'll want to. Mike could try and do another with someone else. I missed it whether he said he'd do a real fight or another exhibition though

Why are people complaining that they called it a draw? They said there was gonna be no winner!!

It looked like Tyson could have knocked him out at any time, not sure why he didn't, the fix was in maybe

If no one saw it, it's still on YouTube (for now).

Tyson vs. Lesnar? Now that would make some moolah.

They had a no knockout rule
