It was pretty funny when Rogan had him on and then bullied the sheet out of him for being a disgusting slob.

I'm always amazed at how you're able to find people on twitter with such bad takes.   Dr. Hotez admitting that he doesn't eat as healthy as he should and that he doesn't exercise as much as he should doesn't equate to "exclusively promoting vaccines while disregarding exercise, vitamins, and a healthy diet".   It's literally the exact opposite.   If he was disregarding the importance of a healthy diet and exercise, he would have said that his diet is fine and so is his level of physical activity.

It's strange too, since a guy with the name illuminatibot would otherwise seem so well grounded and trustworthy.

good thread drawing parallels between current anti-vax sentiment and the fear mongering over satanic subliminal messages in rock songs from the 80's.

Moral of the story, similar to what we've heard from intellectual heavyweights like MTG, the uneducated don't want to be educated, they just want to be afraid. Best to just mock them for being morons and move on.

Pandering to the morons is how money is made. It's a shame it needs to be done on important subjects like medicine and education but here we are.

One thing I do like about RFK, is that he is talking about one of the biggest health epidemics in the country that no other politician will touch. What is causing astronomical increases in autism rates? Why is 1 in 36 children now diagnosed with autism in the country? What is the purpose of our health organizations if not to explore that question?

Oh, part of this discussion is that vaccines cause autism too? I thought it was just that COVID vaccines "kill people" but we're going full blown anti-vaccine. Yeah, definitely give that guy a platform

Yeah, RFK thinks it's possible that's caused the exploding rates. 1 in 36 is a breath-taking number, though. What's changed in the country to cause such a drastic change?

It's definitely trolling to acknowledge a statistic reported by the CDC.

Most likely better understanding and being identified better (instead of just labeling people "weird")

Or the vaccines. Probably just the vaccines.

a) health organizations are exploring that question.  Three are tons of studies out there looking at this.

b) If incidence of autism is linked to childhood immunizations, then why would there have been such a sharp uptick since 2000?  Childhood vaccination rates have been unchanged since 2000.  So if autism was linked to vaccines, then it would stand to reason that autism rates would have stayed stagnant since 2000 as vaccination rates also have been stagnant.

That would explain part of the uptick, but there’s certainly more to it than that.

The idea has been disproven again and again for decades. There is no talking to those who think otherwise.

 I'm certain higher diagnosis plays a part, but have you ever met anyone severely autistic? Severe autism has also exploded.

a) Oh, good. I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it.

b) You seem to be under the impression I'm saying that autism and vaccines are linked.

We interact with you, WV Mike, and lynched quite a bit.

severely autistic and on the spectrum are very different. I have to think there have been a lot of undiagnosed people with mild autism in past generations.

question is whether there's actually an uptick in people with autism, or simply an uptick in autism being identified and diagnosed.

there's less of a stigma than there was in the past, which helps.

in software development I would guess that the rate of people with milder forms of autism (such as Asperger's) is higher than the background population, as the work in some ways lends itself to it. there are definitely people I've worked with - some very good at their jobs - that people have asked me in confidence "is he on the spectrum?"

Stunning and brave for Joe Rogan to put people like this on his show.

Now Ackman is joining hands with the stupid brigade...

Infants and young children can't provide informed consent! I've read that sentence five times and can't stop laughing

I too am suspicious over why there's an increase in a kids with a disease that we recently started recognizing/treating beyond just throwing rocks at them and calling them retards.

Must be the WiFi.

That cheap sensationalist rag?

RFK has done his research. Does SA even know what research is?
