Yeah. Honestly it’s like Twitter Classic.

Obviously since it’s early there’s a lot of functionality that isn’t there, but I think it has a lot going for it. One thing I like is that stupid fringe takes aren’t shoved in my face.

Agreed. It can only get better from here. This has to be devastating for Musk, to now have a major competitor for Market Share, while the company value is a third of what he paid for it.

I wonder if this thought has ever crossed Musk's mind.

Honestly it wouldn’t have been hard to not make Twitter a steaming pile of ish.

About the only thing useful has been the community notes. Keeps both sides in check. Other than that it’s turned into garbage.

You spend more time saying, "No, I don't want to see this steaming pile"

There are wonderful communities of scientists, artists, musicians, such a shame they are pieces of corn in a steaming pile.

He was making fun of his interaction with Wendy's, I wouldn't call it a "tantrum."

Amazing that now every day, I get a new notification that Elon has gifted me $500 in bitcoin.

I'm sure they aren't scams. They are using Elon's name, and he wouldn't allow that.

Elon protects free speech by banning the word cis and banning anyone he doesn't like.  He is having a tantrum, he's trying to sue because the people he fired and joked about got new jobs with Threads.

All Zuck the cuck had to do was let Elon kill Twitter, and he comes to the rescue with his new product, that makes what facebook takes from users look like pocket lint.

Two of the features that made Twitter useful, are of course, not existent in Threads.

Threads does not seem to use hashtags and does not have a feature that allows users to search for specific text or phrases.

I'm sure they'll eventually integrate pretty much every feature that Twitter has but the fact that it's caught on like this so fast is a really bad sign for Musk.  It's broken through in a way that the past competitors never did.

And if it has it's base of users generating content, enough important influencers join, and is exactly like Twitter minus all the right wing trolls making everything political, then there's just very little reason for any normal person to choose Twitter.

People are sheep. Thanks to Facebook and Instagram, I will never get Threads. I won't have Zuckers stuff on my phone.

Yep, people engage with these platforms to be "informed". For the young crowd it's influencers and new-age celebrities, for the old-crowd it's conventional celebrities and traditional media (i.e. journos.) Academics have already been leaving Twitter in search of a new platform, so the journos will naturally have to manage both platforms for a while and if it becomes trendy for celebrities to follow suit, then it's going to be a market ripe for bifurcation. The new age celebrities will simply follow the money, so most I assume will stay on Twitter, but it won't take much for threads to gain a foothold in the wake of Musk's poor decisions.

I haven’t checked out threads but if you are required to have an account even just to browse it makes sense for surge in users. I think part of reason twitter had less users than other platforms like IG/FB is that you don’t need an account browse the platform.
